❓So what’s the difference between holding a stretch and active joint mobilisation?

✅ Unlike static stretching, which primarily lengthens muscles in a passive state, active mobility exercises integrate movement and strength, making your body more resilient and better prepared for dynamic activities.

🤙 This leads to improved performance, reduced injury risk, and greater overall flexibility in everyday life and athletic endeavors.

❓Is static stretching a waste of time then? Absolutely not.

🧘🏻 Static stretching is great for reducing muscle tension, increasing blood flow and calming the nervous system.

Moving better requires a synergy of different components so it is important that you use strength training, active mobility and static stretching in the right combination and amount.

We are more than happy to educate and guide you so you can get the best results without wasting time or making an existing problem worse.

Strength Exercise of the Week

- Slow tempo push ups on kettlebells -

1. Why on KBs? - unstable base increases the need for stabilisation through the whole body which triggers greater muscle recruitment.

2. Why go slow? - muscle and strength gain comes from time under tension. The longer the muscles are under stress the greater the response will be.

3. What’s the weird noise you are making?
- it is called “bio-mechanical breathing technique” - breath in at the top, hold breath to maintain abdominal pressure and tension, forced exhale through the teeth to further increase abdominal pressure and tension to prevent the body from “falling apart” on the way up.
The extra tension also enhances the pressing effort which is helpful as pushing up is the more difficult half of the movement.

The push up is essentially a “moving plank” so keeping the body tensioned is required.

Strength training is an art in which we need to develop important skills to achieve mastery.

Doing it in any other way is risky and a waste of time.

Why do so many people struggle with a movement that was so easy when they were kids?

I am talking about the squat.

The squat is a movement that requires you to bend your
- ankles
- knees
- and hips

Pretty simple, isn’t it?

Well it’s not if all or any of these joints have lost their ability to actually move properly.

Restoring and maintaining your ability to squat has a lot of benefits and it’s necessary in order to remain mobile and agile.

With every passing year it gets harder and harder to restore healthy joint function in the ankles, knees and hips until comes the time when you need help to get up and down.

There is a solution but you need to invest a bit of time and effort but it will be well worth it!
