Canberra and Newcastle 2025 Ice Hockey Classic. Showcasing top quality ice hockey, the 2025 Classic will raised awareness and funds for the STOPCONCUSSIONS Foundation. STOPCONCUSSIONS platform was founded by former European star Kerry Goulet and ex-NHL stars Keith and Wayne Primeau. Stopconcussions is a concussion / neurotrauma educational and awareness platform

for all sports, to address the growing trend of concussions in sports. It is an educational portal that players, parents, coaches, and officials can visit to seek information regarding concussions, with the goal of becoming more aware and ultimately safer individuals in their respective sports.

Elijah Wilson is returning for the 2026 Ice Hockey Classic!

A veteran pro hockey player, Elijah has spent the last four years playing in the SPHL and the FPHL. He is a fluid skater with a high offensive IQ and is a point a game in the PFHL. He is quality forward with the ability to see the ice and as important shoot the puck. Elijah had 35 points in 39 games last season with the Topeka Scarecrows, notching 17 goals being a threat every shift.

Another big signing for Canada as Bailey Stephen from Calgary, Alberta has agreed to play for the team in the upcoming Ice Hockey Classic series in Australia. Bailey is a very sound goaltender who has played for Baton Rouge Zydeco the past three seasons with an average 2.87 GAA and combined .899 save percentage. Before Baton Rouge he was a standout for Missouri State University in College. He is excited to take on the challenge to stop the high powered US offense and help Canada retain the cup.

“I have heard so much about the Classic over the years and to finally to be chosen as the Canadian goalie is a true honour. As a young boy I also wanted to make it to the NHL but I never realized this however to be asked to wear the Red and White Maple Leaf is a highlight of my career and I will do what ever it takes to win for my country!” states Bailey. “I know Cody Karpinski and have a lot of respect as he is a tremendous goaltender. After the amazing season he and winning the President’s Cup, I want to stop the hardware at that and I will need to be at my best….and I will certainly be that in this series!”

The Ice Hockey Classic is thrilled to announce that standout goaltender Cody Karpinski will once again suit up for Team USA in the 2026 Ice Hockey Classic, taking place in Hobart, Melbourne, and Canberra.

Karpinski returns to Australia following another outstanding season with the Evansville Thunderbolts, helping the Thunderbolts capture their second consecutive SPHL President's Cup championship. Evansville successfully defended its title in 2026, becoming back-to-back league champions.

The American netminder posted exceptional numbers during the season, recording a remarkable 1.81 goals-against average and .936 save percentage, further cementing his reputation as one of the SPHL's top goaltenders.

Karpinski was instrumental in Team USA's series victory in Canberra last year and understands that Team Canada will arrive determined to reclaim the trophy.

"Last year was simply amazing! From the incredible fan support in Canberra, to the quality of AIS Arena and the overall professional production of the Ice Hockey Classic. I know the Canadians will be gunning for us, but I can assure you, I will be ready — no, we will be ready — to defend the Cup!" said Karpinski.

Ice Hockey Classic Global Director Kerry Goulet is excited to welcome the popular goaltender back to Australia.

"He was the MVP for Team USA in last year's series, and Cody is an entertainer in net. He loves the game and shows it through his play every time he steps onto the ice. We're looking forward to seeing him again and can't thank him enough for supporting the Ice Hockey Classic and the important causes it represents," said Goulet.

The 2026 Ice Hockey Classic will once again showcase one of hockey's greatest rivalries as Canada and the USA battle for international bragging rights in front of passionate Australian fans across Hobart, Melbourne, and Canberra.
