Our fully subsidied outdoor education program is under way and we are thrilled to see Glenroi Heights Public School - NSW DEC's visit to Chowder Bay featured by WIN News Central West.

This week, 50 students from regional NSW are participating in a fully subsidised outdoor education experience on Sydney Harbour, including kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, bushwalking, team challenges and exploring some of Sydney's most iconic landmarks.

Day 2 saw Glenroi Heights Public School - NSW DEC students partake in some initiative games and team challenges at Clifton Gardens before heading on a bushwalk from Chowder Bay to Taronga Zoo wharf where they caught a ferry to the city.

For many, it was their first time in Sydney. From discovering the city's iconic landmarks by ferry to walking across the Harbour Bridge and learning about Sydney's rich history at Sydney Bridge Museum, they returned tired but with heads full of unforgettable memories.

This week, we had the privilege to welcome Glenroi Heights Public School - NSW DEC year 5 & 6 students and their teachers at our Chowder Bay base for a fully subsidised outdoor education program.

After a long bus ride from Orange to Sydney, they dropped their bags off at Land's Edge Foundation where they spent the next 2 nights, and headed straight down to the beach to our Saltwater School to give kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding a go.

What an incredible 3 days!

This week, students from Glenroi Heights Public School - NSW DEC travelled from the outskirts of Orange to Sydney Harbour as part of our Fully Subisidised Outdoor Education Program.

They stayed at our Land's Edge Harbour Lodge in Chowder Bay, the perfect base to experience the harbour with Saltwater School and explore Sydney. From kayaking and paddleboarding to bushwalks, team challenges, ferry journeys and exploring iconic Sydney landmarks, students embraced every opportunity to learn, grow and challenge themselves.

Join our team at Harbour Lodge, just 250m from Clifton Gardens Beach! Perfect for someone who loves hospitality, is passionate about customer service, and would like to work in a stunning location.

This role involves overseeing our 83-bed accommodation facility and ensuring a seamless experience for our guests who are primarily school groups.

What you’ll do:
âś” Coordinate guest arrivals and departures
âś” Maintain cleanliness and prepare rooms
âś” Assist in food preparation and service
âś” Manage stock and coordinate with suppliers
âś” Group on-site point of contact

Requirements:

- NSW Working With Children Check
- First Aid & CPR (or willing to obtain)
- Driver’s Licence
- Great communication skills

Desirable:

- Experience in food preparation, cleaning, or hospitality
- Interest in outdoor activities or education (kayak, snorkel or marine biology qualifications a bonus)

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting our 2026 Familiarisation event at Harbour Lodge.

We welcomed educational travel partners from around the country for a 2-day, 1-night stay. From kayaking and snorkeling to bushwalking through to Taronga Zoo, ferrying across Sydney Harbour, dinner at Four Frogs CrĂŞperie and soaking up Vivid Sydney, they got to experience Harbour Lodge and everything we offer at Chowder Bay just like their groups would.

It’s always so valuable to bring our partners into the experience, so they can see, feel and share it firsthand.
