The Mercedes-Benz 300 SE W140 represents one of the most substantial eras of S-Class engineering.

Under the bonnet sits a 3.2-litre naturally aspirated inline-six, delivering smooth and effortless performance rather than outright aggression. The focus here was refinement, comfort and making long-distance driving feel almost completely effortless.

The W140 was famous for its incredibly solid construction, excellent sound insulation and imposing road presence. Even simple things like the weight of the doors, the thickness of the glass and the way the cabin is put together make the car feel unusually substantial.

Inside, the 300 SE combines traditional Mercedes-Benz luxury with the technology of its era — generous leather, wood trim, electrically adjustable seating and a cabin designed to isolate passengers from the outside world.

It is large, heavy and unapologetically engineered, but that is exactly what gives the W140 its character.

More than 30 years later, it still feels like a proper flagship Mercedes-Benz.

The Toyota Supra name disappeared in 2002, and when it finally returned, it came back with a very different recipe.

The A90/A91 Supra was developed alongside the BMW Z4, sharing much of its underlying engineering. Under the bonnet you’ll find BMW-sourced engines and components, the automatic uses a ZF 8-speed gearbox, and once you step inside, plenty of the switches, controls and infotainment will look very familiar to BMW owners.

That’s why the modern Supra has spent years being called everything from “a BMW with Toyota badges” to “the world’s most reliable BMW.”

But that doesn’t mean Toyota simply slapped a badge on a Z4 and called it a day. Toyota gave the Supra its own chassis tuning, styling, calibration and character, turning the shared platform into a very different car.

The Mercedes-Benz 420 SEL is a reminder of how differently luxury cars used to be built.

This particular W126 is something seriously special. With only 36,000 kilometres on the clock, it has been preserved in incredible condition. The paint, interior, wood trim, switchgear and even the small factory details still feel remarkably fresh for a car of this age.

And the best part is, everything works.

The electric sunroof, climate control and interior features all operate properly. Even little details that are usually broken, missing or worn out after decades are still here.

Under the bonnet sits a 4.2-litre V8, delivering power exactly how an old-school S-Class should. Smooth, quiet and effortless.

Inside, the original-style sheepskin covers have helped protect the seats underneath, and the cabin still has that unmistakable W126 feel. Solid controls, beautiful wood trim and the kind of build quality Mercedes became famous for.

Finished in Desert Taupe Metallic, this 420 SEL looks just as special as it feels.

A 420 SEL with only 36,000 km is already rare.

One in this condition is something else entirely.

🚐The Chevrolet G-Series van is one of those vehicles that quietly became part of American life.

Introduced in the 1960s and developed through multiple generations, Chevy vans became a familiar sight across the United States for decades. They were work vans, delivery vans, service vehicles, family transporters and eventually even cultural icons. Simple, durable and endlessly adaptable, they represented a very American idea: one vehicle that could be turned into almost anything.

By the 1970s and 1980s, vans like this were everywhere. Tradesmen used them as mobile workshops, companies used them for deliveries and utilities, and custom van culture turned them into something completely different again. They became symbols of road trips, small businesses, blue-collar America and a whole era of automotive design.

This particular example is a 1984 Chevrolet van recreated as the Hawkins Power and Light vehicle from Stranger Things.

In the series, these vans are connected to Hawkins National Laboratory and are used by government agents while searching for Eleven and monitoring the town. They also appear in one of the show’s most memorable early scenes, when the kids are being chased on their bikes and Eleven sends one of the vans flying through the air.

That scene helped turn an ordinary 1980s utility van into something instantly recognisable to millions of Stranger Things fans.

Underneath the Hawkins graphics, though, it is still very much an old-school American Chevy van. V8 power, a huge cabin, a massive cargo area, column shift, wonderfully blue 1980s interior and an engine positioned partly underneath the cabin — meaning working on it can involve accessing it from inside the van.

It’s practical, slightly strange, unmistakably American and now tied to one of the biggest television shows of the modern era.

So if you ever see a Hawkins Power and Light van parked outside your house…

Maybe don’t answer the door. 👀
