There are seasons where we know we need to protect our peace but we need to live alongside someone who has lost theirs.
We know we need to exercise, rest, laugh, create, and reconnect with ourselves. Yet every day we are called into another role:
The mother of a struggling child, the partner of someone carrying invisible burdens, the daughter or sister, the leader, or caregiver.
These roles don't always work together. Sometimes one asks so much of us that another quietly disappears.
If this is your season, I want you to know this:
Protecting your peace doesn't mean you've stopped loving them.
Creating boundaries doesn't mean you've abandoned them.
Taking time to breathe doesn't make you selfish.
Sometimes life asks us to hold two realities at once, to show up wholeheartedly for someone we love, while refusing to lose ourselves in the process.
Like the safety briefing on an aeroplane, you put your own oxygen mask on first, not because you matter more, but because you won't be able to help anyone else if you can't breathe.
Protect your peace where you can.
Because the strongest version of you isn't the one who carries everything alone.
It is the one who chooses to stay well enough to keep showing up.
