💜⚽ FEMALE FOOTBALL WEEKEND – AAW5 ⚽💜
The final match of our Female Football Weekend at Pratten Park brought an incredible day of football to a close as our Ashfield Pirates All Age Women’s Division 5 side took on St Barnabas in a fiercely contested encounter.
Played in fantastic spirit, sportsmanship and determination, both teams put on a wonderful display of community football. The match remained competitive throughout, with the Pirates narrowly going down 2-1, but the effort, commitment and teamwork shown by both sides was outstanding.
What makes this team's performance even more impressive is that this is a brand new squad formed for the 2026 season. In a short period of time, the players have built strong friendships, a positive team culture and are playing some excellent football. Week after week, the team continues to improve and grow in confidence, which is a credit to every player involved.
A special mention must go to coach Leah Sawford, who has done a fantastic job leading the team in its inaugural season. Her dedication, leadership and support have helped create an environment where players can develop, enjoy their football and be part of something special.
The final whistle also marked the conclusion of an incredible Female Football Weekend at Pratten Park. Across 5 matches we saw fantastic football, outstanding sportsmanship, wonderful support from families and friends, and a celebration of the continued growth of girls and women’s football within the Pirates community.
Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, played, coached and supported throughout the day. We are already looking forward to doing it all again in 2027.
What a weekend. What a club. What a future for female football at the Pirates. 💜☠️
