On Saturday 1st August 2026, we celebrated Gina Pearce's 80th birthday at Palm Beach Golf Club.
Gina has shown an outstanding stewardship towards the Palm Beach Golf Club Ladies over her 30+years of membership.
Gina has many golfing achievements to date, starting with the Ladies Club Champion for 4 of them. Gina has also won 10 women’s foursomes, 5 Vets Premierships and 2 Mixed Foursomes.
For our weekend Comps, Gina has to date won 2 Ladies Club Champs, 8 women’s foursomes and 4 Vets Premierships, not to mention the 2x hole in 1’s.
Gina was also the Ladies Club Captain for 10 years and on the Board of Directors for 6 years.
Gina remains a strong advocate for ladies Vets and continues to be an inspiration and great friend to us all.
Here’s to many more years of happiness and health. Happy 80th Birthday! from VWGA.

8:30 Shotgun Start

The sun gradually came out for a beautiful warm winter’s day to welcome the 116 players for the shotgun start at 8.30. Most of the players came dressed for the occasion which made for a very colourful day on the green.

Hole In One Ball Marker was sent from VWGA for Janet Bowden from Shoalhaven Heads Golf Club.
💫From the club records Janet also had a HIO on our 2nd hole on 30.5.20 - that doesn't happen very often!

Ocean Shores Country Club's 2 Day Country Tournament was held on the 12th July Meet and Greet,13th July 4BBB Stableford and 14th July Stableford. Blue skies were welcomed and everyone enjoyed both days of golfing. Congratulations to the winners on both days.

Day 2 Overall Stableford Winner Teresa Fraser Ocean Shores Score: 40

Thank you VWGA for providing the 80 year hat clip for Christine Gainey, she gratefully accepted it.

Christine is one of the founding members of our club Gungahlin Lakes Golf & Community Club & still plays regularly. She was part of the winning CSGA Bronze Shield Pennant team this year.

SLOW PLAY
Slow play in golf refers to groups taking excessive time to complete a round (typically over 4 hours for 18 holes), disrupting the rhythm of the course and causing frustration for following players. To maintain a good pace and avoid being the "slow player," adhere to these standard etiquette guidelines:

1. Play "Ready Golf".
Hit your ball when you are ready and safe to do so, even if you weren't the furthest away.
2. Prepare Ahead.
While others are hitting, assess your distance, pick your club, and plan your pre-shot routine so you can execute your shot immediately when your turn arrives.
3. Pick Up Your Ball.
If you are out of contention for a score on a hole, pick up your ball to keep the group moving.
4. Let Faster Groups Through.
If there is an open hole in front of you and a faster group is waiting behind, invite them to play through at the next tee.
