Nestled in the heart of leafy Concord, and surrounded by open parkland, playing fields and sporting venues including golf courses and tennis courts, Greenlees Park Bowling Club offers a unique opportunity for relaxation and enjoyment of the game of lawn bowls. ubhouse was opened in September 1960 by W.S. Ongoing upgrades and extensions kept the club abreast of the times until, in 2006, members voted to amalgamate with Briars Sports Club which injected capital and boosted membership, all of which resulted in the modern, comfortable and stylish premises members now enjoy. Greenlees was the birthplace of the famous couch grass developed and named by the late Rod Riley OAM whilst greenkeeping, that has since spread worldwide. Many notable bowlers have called Greenlees ‘home’ over the years, culminating with the Australian Fours Champions in 1998. Today, Greenlees is promoting bare-foot bowls to broaden the game’s exposure to the wider community, as well as always looking for new bowlers, and thus ensure continued success into the future.
