Pendragons Dragon Boat Club

Pendragons Dragon Boat Club Pendragons Dragon Boat Club founded in 2002 competes at all levels including regional, national and international and Great Grand Masters (over 60 yrs.)

Pendragon Dragon Boat Club is located at the base of the Blue Mountains in Penrith NSW, with paddling members from all over Western Sydney and the Mountains. Pendragons were formed in 2002, with its name originating from the legend of Arthur Pendragon (King Arthur). In the Year of the Dragon 2012 we have reached a 10 year milestone as a club. In 2011 we came of age entering our very first Australi

an Club Championships in Canberra and qualified for the 8th IDBF Club Crew World Championships 2012 in Hong Kong. You will see us racing in the distinctive yellow and purple shirts and yellow hats. Our training venue is arguably the best in Australia using the Sydney International Regatta Centre built for the 2000 Olympics with all the facilities you would expect from an international venue. We have a number of paddlers representing state and national teams. We regularly hold Saturday Come and Try days for all those over 12 years of age. We paddle Men, Women and Mixed in Juniors (12-17 yrs.), Premier (under 40 yrs.), the Masters (over 40 yrs.), Grand Masters (over 50 yrs.) divisions. We also have a dedicated breast cancer survivorโ€™s team, Dragons Abreast Penrith. Many of the survivors train and race with the sports crew.

While the 2026 regatta season may have started to slow down, many of our paddlers are only just getting started.

This weekend, through thick fog on Saturday and steady rain on Sunday, our crews were back on the water preparing for the challenges ahead. Whether itโ€™s the Dragons Abreast teams heading to France for the International Breast Cancer Paddlers Festival, paddlers training for the Penrith Vallam Kali, or those setting their sights on future representative opportunities, the commitment has been inspiring to see.

Dragon boating isnโ€™t always sunshine and glassy water. Sometimes itโ€™s early alarms, cold mornings, wet weather and simply showing up when it would be easier to stay in bed.

A huge shout out to everyone who pulled on their wet weather gear, grabbed a paddle and put in the work this weekend. Your dedication, teamwork and determination are what make our club so special.

Well done Pendragons. The racing may have eased, but the preparation is well and truly underway. ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ’™

This weekend, Lucy, Jane, Sharon and Annette attended the first DBNSW Conference held in more than 10 years - with around 120 delegates, from Sports, Juniors, DAs and Para representation across NSW. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™
A huge thank you and congratulations to Cathy, Nicole, everyone who helped organise the event before and during the weekend; all presenters from NSW clubs, DBNSW Board Members, AUSDBF and excellent external speakers.
Steve Allan was an outstanding Master of Ceremonies - a true friend of our sport who reflected what it stands for and kept the audience very involved.
The two days were full of information and stories we can all learn from, while also giving our clubs insight into the future direction and opportunities for our sport in our region.
Pendragons were also very humbled to receive recognition in assisting DBNSW in the management of Dragon Boat assets and other SIRC assistance! We are local and on the ground at SIRC, so provide muscle power and bodies to move boats โ€“ from here to there, on and off trailers and back again and again! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช Plus being the babysitters โ€“ aka, letโ€™s get the water out of these boats after a big storm!
Needless to say, the networking, making new friends and catching up with those you already know was fantastic.
Once again, a big thank you to our DBNSW Team in Cathy and Nichole and the DBNSW Board who made this all possible - and a plan that this becomes a regular event in the DBNSW Calander! ๐Ÿ˜

Yesterday we had 3 boats out on the water, including one very special boat made up of our Pendragons paddlers who are also part of Dragons Abreast Penrith alongside fellow visitors joining them as they prepare for the IBCPC Regatta in France.

It was wonderful to welcome so many visitors to training and even more special to come together afterwards for the beautiful morning tea Dragons Abreast Penrith put on for everyone.

A huge thank you to Dragons Abreast Penrith for your generosity, warmth and hospitality. The spread was absolutely superb and your team outfits looked amazing! Wishing you all the very best as you continue your preparations for France - we know youโ€™ll do Australia proud ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‰

Last night we celebrated the 2026 Pendragons End of Season & Awards Night ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ†

Another incredible season has come to an end and what a year it has been. From early morning trainings to regattas, medals, laughs, teamwork and determination - our paddlers have once again shown what makes Pendragons such a special club.

Every single person who turned up, put in the effort, supported their teammates and contributed to our results and team spirit should be proud of what we achieved together this season.

While only a handful of awards can be presented on the night, they represent the dedication, commitment and passion shown by so many across the club. Congratulations to all of this yearโ€™s award winners - very well deserved ๐Ÿ‘

Thank you to everyone who helped make the night such a great celebration of our club, our paddlers and our season. Hereโ€™s to 2027! ๐Ÿฒ
