Mums are incredibly good at putting themselves at the bottom of the list.
“I’ll deal with it later.”
“It’s probably nothing.”
“It’ll sort itself out.”
And sometimes it does.
But sometimes that ni**le in your wrist becomes pain every time you pick up your baby.
Every time you push the pram.
Every time you open a jar, carry the shopping or hold your morning coffee.
The thing about Mum Thumb is that it often creeps up gradually.
A little soreness becomes irritation.
Irritation becomes pain.
And before you know it, you’ve been working around it for months.
So here’s your gentle reminder.
If your wrist pain has been hanging around for more than a couple of weeks...
If you’re noticing clicking, catching, weakness or numbness...
If lifting your baby, gripping a bottle or pushing the pram is becoming uncomfortable...
Or if the pain is waking you at night...
It’s time to get some support.
Not because something is seriously wrong, but because your body is giving you information and it deserves to be listened to.
You spend so much time looking after everyone else.
You deserve the same care, attention and support that you so freely give to the people you love. ❤️

WE’RE HIRING ❤️
Phoenix Strong Women is looking for a coach to join our team.
Not just any coach.
We’re looking for someone who believes that strength training can change a woman’s life and understands that our members are so much more than the workouts they complete.
At Phoenix, our pillars are simple:
❤️ Strength
❤️ Community
❤️ Kindness
The right person will:
✔ Lead with empathy and kindness
✔ Create a welcoming, non judgemental environment
✔ Love helping women build confidence through strength training
✔ Value connection and community as much as programming
✔ Be committed to ongoing learning and growth
✔ Understand that coaching is about people first
Qualifications in Women’s Health, Safe Return to Exercise, Pregnancy & Postnatal Exercise or Strength & Conditioning are highly regarded, but finding the right person is our priority.
This role probably isn’t for you if you believe:
❌ Harder is always better
❌ Exercise should leave women feeling broken
❌ Pain, leaking or heaviness should simply be pushed through
❌ Coaching is only about sets and reps
If reading this feels like we’re describing you, we’d love to hear from you.

Mum thumb is real. It has a name and, most importantly, you don’t have to just put up with it.
De Quervain’s tenosynovitis is one of the most common conditions I see in mums, especially during those early years when your hands seem to spend all day lifting, feeding, carrying and comforting a little human.
Every feed, every nappy change, every car seat lift and every time you pick your baby up adds a little more load to the same tendons that run from your thumb into your wrist. Over time, that repetitive strain can lead to pain, tenderness and difficulty with simple everyday tasks.
What often surprises mums is that they have been living with it for weeks or even months before they realise it’s something that can actually be treated.
If this sounds familiar, some simple first steps can help:
❤️ Rest the area where possible
❤️ Ice regularly to help settle irritation
❤️ Consider a thumb splint to reduce strain on the tendon
❤️ See a physio if symptoms have been hanging around for more than a few weeks
At Phoenix, we don’t believe in pushing through pain just to tick off a workout. We modify exercises, build strength around the area and work with your body, not against it.
Because motherhood places enough demands on your hands and wrists already.
💬 Save this post for later and send it to a mum who keeps saying, “It’s probably nothing.” It might be exactly what she needs to hear.

One of the things I love about being a MumSafe™️ Trainer is that there is a clear standard behind the badge.
It’s not something you can simply decide to call yourself.
There are specific requirements that need to be met before a trainer can become MumSafe accredited, from specialised pre and postnatal education to insurance, professional registration and ongoing professional development.
And honestly, I think that’s exactly how it should be.
Because when you’re pregnant, postpartum or navigating the many changes that come with motherhood, you deserve more than someone who “works with mums.”
You deserve someone who has invested the time to understand your body, your recovery and the unique challenges women can face during this season of life.
I chose to become a MumSafe Trainer because after having Sofia and navigating my own postpartum journey, I realised just how much there was to learn about women’s health and how important it is to have the right support around you.
The mums I work with place a huge amount of trust in me and I never take that lightly.
For me, the MumSafe badge represents a commitment to ongoing learning, collaboration with pelvic health professionals and providing women with the safest and most supportive experience possible.
Because every woman deserves to feel confident that the person guiding her exercise understands the bigger picture.
💬 Save this post for later or share it with a woman who is looking for the right support on her journey ❤️

After I had Sofia, I found myself doing what so many mums do.
Training in the same way I used to train before getting pregnant.
Wondering when it was actually safe to push a little harder .
The funny thing is, I was already an exercise professional.
I had qualifications. I had experience. And yet I still felt underprepared for what my own body needed during that season of life.
That experience was a turning point for me.
It made me realise just how many gaps existed in my understanding of pregnancy, postpartum recovery and women’s health.
And if I felt that way as a trainer, how must other mums be feeling?
So I went looking for answers.
Not just for myself, but for every woman who would trust me with her health and wellbeing in the years to come.
Becoming a MumSafe™️ Trainer meant undertaking specialised pre and postnatal education, making sure I had the right insurance, building strong relationships with pelvic health physiotherapists and committing to ongoing learning so I can provide women with the support they deserve.
Because motherhood changes your body.
Not in a broken way.
Not in a “you need fixing” way.
But in a way that deserves understanding, respect and the right guidance.
It completely changed how I coach.
It changed the questions I ask, the things I look for and the way I support women through every stage of motherhood.
You deserve a trainer who understands the journey, values your experience and sees the whole picture, not just the workout in front of you.
💬 If you’re wondering where to start, or where to start again, send me a message. I’d love to help you find the right next step for you ❤️
