Masters Rules

In order to ensure that players are able to compete in a fun and completely safe environment, modifications to the official Laws of the Game were approved by the ARL Board in October 2006. In general, the changes apply to the following:

• Game time
• Number of players
• Match Rules including scrums, tackles and kicking
• Special Rules for older players

Special Rules:

Players

45 to 49 years may wear red shorts and players 50 years and over may wear yellow shorts. The wearing of red and yellow shorts is optional, however if players wear red or yellow shorts, the special rules will apply to those players. Click here to download the official Masters Rules

ARL National Code of Conduct

All Masters events throughout Australia operate under the ARL National Code of Conduct. The Code covers all participants in our game:

• Players
• Coaches
• Match Officials
• Spectators

The Code of Conduct has three General Principles. Every participant should:

• Discourage all instances of unsportsmanlike behavior, foul or illegal play, or acts of violence, both on and off the field.
• Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person regardless of their gender, ability/disability, sexual orientation, cultural background or religion.
• Condemn the use of recreational and performance-enhancing drugs and doping practices; their use endangers the health of players and is contrary to the concept of fair play.
