🏆 Congratulations to Dance League All Stars!

A huge congratulations to Dance League All Stars on taking out 1st place in the Intermediate Adult Pom division at the AASCF State Championships on Saturday 12th September!

This incredible achievement comes in their first year of operation (aka their rookie season), with classes proudly running right here at SMI’s Learning Loft.

We’re so proud to see Team Cardinals bringing home the gold and representing the Shire with such energy and passion at this prestigious Cheerleading and Dance competition. Both Team Cardinals and Team Blue Jays (Beginner) are now gearing up for Cheerbrandz and CheerCon Nationals — and we can’t wait to see this amazing new club hit the Nationals comp floor!

✨ Dance League All Stars train at SMI’s Learning Loft on Thursdays – Blue Jays 7:15-8:45pm and Cardinals 8:00-9:30pm.

Congratulations Remy!!

Welcome done to our patient Remy on being awarded her 5th Dan Black Belt and the title of Master by Martial Arts Hall of Famer, Grand Master Joe Ingrati. This was after hours of extensive training, including pad work, self-defense, Poomsae, full contact sparring and traditional syllabus.

In Remy’s own words, “It was a milestone made possible, in large part, because of Dr George Pitsis expertise and support. His willingness to go above and beyond did not go unnoticed, and I’m truly grateful for the time, attention, and understanding he showed throughout the process”.

The team at SMI are so happy for Remy, and wish her well with the continuation of her treatment.

With the start of the winter sports season upon us, we thought it a timely reminder about the affects of concussion and the importance of not ignoring the symptoms. At SMI we have a first rate concussion team comprising of our Sports & Exercise physicians Dr George Pitsis, Dr Damien McKay, and Dr Zoe Burns. They are supported by Dr Dennis Cordato (Consultant Neurologist), Dr Amanda Olley (Clinical Neuropsychologist, and our physiotherapist team. Have you ever thought about seeing a Dietitian?

Let us introduce you to SMI’s accredited dietitian Annaliese Phipps.

Annaliese graduated from the University of Wollongong with Class I Honours in 2022. Prior to this, she worked for seven years as a nurse at Wollongong Hospital. Annaliese has completed additional training for the Low FODMAP Diet for Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Monash University and is currently a clinical dietitian at Westmead Hospital in addition to her position at SMI.

Annaliese is currently seeing a full scope of patients including adults and children, those with complex medical issues, sports people, the elderly, pregnancy, eating disorders, diabetes, Bariatric patients, food allergies and more.

Anna accepts private, EPC, DVA, and Workcover patients and is available for consultations on Wednesdays at our Miranda clinic.
