Here's some more information for a very exciting event for the championship! One Raceway will host our first-ever round of the championship at this venue.

Early entries at a discounted rate have now closed for competitiors, but rest assured entries remain open until the 1st of May.

Formula Vee driver Nic Klippan ( #22 Borland Sabre 01, 1600cc) was kind enough to give me ten minutes of his time during Round 1 of the 2026 NSW Motor Race Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park.

RB: What first inspired you to start racing?
NK: I’ve been into racing all my life. Dad is obsessed with racing, and I’m lucky enough that he purchased a car so we could go racing together.

RB: Who has been your biggest influence or mentor in racing? Obviously your dad!
NK: Yes, my dad was my biggest inspiration in motorsport.

RB: Which track is your favourite, and why?
NK: I have to say Sydney Motorsport Park. I love the layout. This is my first race meet and Turn 1 scares me, which is very exciting.

RB: Do you have any pre race rituals or superstitions? NK: Not really. Just a can of Red Bull, I guess.

RB: What is the most memorable moment in Motorsport so far?
NK: Drifting in Japan. I raced against some of the best drivers in the world, door to door. I’m sure I’ll get a similar feeling when it’s wheel to wheel racing in these things (as he points to his Formula Vee).

RB: What’s the toughest challenge you’ve faced in motorsport?
NK: I’m not very good mechanically, so building an engine is beyond me.

RB: Is your dad good mechanically?
NK: Not at all. We have someone from the ACT who helps out.

RB: Is there a track overseas you’d love to drive?
NK: Suzuka, Spa. Locally I would love to have a go at Albert Park, but they would never let the Vee’s race there.

RB: If you could race any car in history, what would it be?
NK: It would be the Porsche 917K. They can do over 400 km/h.

RB: Have you seen the roll cages in one of those cars? NK: They barely have one — made out of aluminium, I think. Awesome machines.

RB: Is there something that not many people know about you?
NK: I am so obsessed with drifting that I studied Japanese so I can learn the language.

RB: What’s your ultimate goal in racing? Where do you want this journey to take you?
NK: Just to have fun and get better.

Nic, competed in 3 race at his first race meet with 3rd ( his first race) and two 5th places, great debut by a very talented driver

Here is the Event Schedule for the remaining rounds of NSW MRC 2026. We had an amazing Round 1 at Sydney Motorsport Park last weekend. Next up is One Raceway (previously Wakefield Park). Can’t wait to see you there!

IPRA NSW - Improved Production Racing Association NSW to introduce Club Car Trophy class for 2026 season

Have you got an old-school Club Car and have nowhere to race it? Not keen on updating your period-correct pride and joy to suit more modern regulations? IPRA NSW is introducing a Club Car Trophy series for 2026 for cars that comply with CAMS Club Car regulations no later than 2000, and with a logbook dated prior to 31/01/2000.

The Club Car Trophy class is designed to attract competitors back to the track who have raced the series in the past and are keen to scratch the racing itch again in an inclusive and mature category.

As well, it provides an outlet for club cars that may have changed hands over the last two decades whose owners are keen to give racing a go.

“IPRA’s current grid was born from our old Club Car rules, and there are dozens, if not hundreds, of perfectly eligible race cars parked in sheds across the state that are perfect for our new class,” said IPRA NSW president Mark Larmour.

“Our category is perfectly suited to the owner of an older car who might want to dip their toe back in the racing waters, or even for younger racers with a more basic machine to get their racing miles up. IPRA NSW prides itself on its clean, fair racing and its paddock comradery, and we welcome new racers with open arms.”

Modern safety regulations will apply to all vehicles; alloy roll cages are no longer permitted, for example, while seats and harnesses will need to be in date.

Cars with rim diameters of 15-inch and up are invited to use IPRA’s new Bridgestone RE-71RS control tyre, while cars with smaller rims may use a 200TW R-spec road tyre.

IPRA NSW will race five rounds in 2026 between Sydney Motorsport Park and One Raceway. More information can be found at IPRANSW.org.au

Motorsport Australia is approving the extension of the FIA 8853-2016 harness standard for an additional five years, following extensive research carried out by the Australian Institute for Motor Sport Safety (AIMSS).

So the new season is upon us, HQ Holdens are going to roll out onto the track at One Raceway to do battle for the 2025 Motosport Australia HQ State Championship. (22nd and 23rd of February)
The HQ Series has been around for a long time, it all started in Tasmania in 1989 and since then the popularity has gone from strength to strenght. The drivers keep their cars in near showroom conditions and the racing is as exciting as ever. However you cannot welcome the new years racing with out honouring the stalwart drivers that have added colour, action and substance to the state championship. Some major milestone have been achieved over the past decades, many drivers with more than 100 race starts have graced the NSW racetracks. And the top of the heap is HQ legend Glenn Miller with 186 race starts, a great achievement. So join the HQ community at the track through out the year, talk to the drivers, admire the car and watch some great racing on the track. In the mean time i will do my best to do the category justice with my images. One Raceway Priceless Images
