The Vietnamese Women’s Association in NSW (VWA/NSW) is a non profitable organisation founded in 1984 to serve the settlement needs of Vietnamese women and their families in NSW. Provide support and assistance to Vietnamese women and their families in resettling into the Australian society

tural heritage in a multicultural society. The VWA/NSW provides:
1. CASE WORK
Initial counselling, support and referral services to Vietnamese women on a wide range of settlement needs, including immigration, accommodation, income support, employment & training, health, legal, domestic violence, disabilities, and discrimination.
2. GROUP WORK AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
VWA/NSW organises English classes in conjunction with TAFE, job seeking workshops,support groups, and various training seminars and groups to equip women with skills and knowledge in the broad range of areas of parenting, building self-esteem, assertiveness and confidence, seeking employment in different fields, i.e. hospitality, beautician, hair care & hair dresser, floral arrangement, and all suitable skilled jobs for women. We always work in collaboration & partnership with Vietnamese and mainstream services to initiate community-based programs and projects to address issues and identify emerging needs of women.
3. ADVOCACY AND LOBBYING
We also provide seminars, talks, discussions and conferences to community workers from governmental departments and non-government organisations on issues affecting women and their families, the barriers impacting their access to existing service providers and seeking effective strategies to improve their mainstream services, as well as enhance women’s confidence in the process of integration in their new country.
