It was a cold wet morning today. How did our members describe it in one word?

Whether you are a mid 20s athlete, a mid 40s parent with sore knees, or mid 60s just trying to do your best, we can all benefit from plyometric training

Springy bouncy knees means better performance on the sport field
It means walking up and down stairs in the morning doesn't hurt
It means fall prevention

We don't train like bodybuilders because we aren't bodybuilders

RECOVERY: FIVE NON-NEGOTIABLES
✅Nutrition. One-point-five to two grams of protein per kg of bodyweight. Load your carbs. Keep fats moderate.
✅Water. Three percent of your bodyweight, every single day — then add more for coffee, alcohol, and training.
✅Blood flow. Light movement post-training beats rest. You're flushing lactic acid, reducing stiffness. More exercise is the answer.
✅Sleep. Human growth hormone shows up overnight. Better sleep equals better recovery. Full stop.
✅Painkillers. Don't mask it. That soreness is inflammation doing its job — helping you recover. Unless it's genuinely wrecking your life, skip the Nurofen. The pain means it's working.

MEMBER OF THE MONTH: HONEY CALIXTO

Honey has been a superstar since joining early this year. In her initial consult we made a plan for weight loss, how many calories, what macros, how many classes etc

And people often ask what's the secret? How did you get such great results? Simple. She just executed the plan as prescribed

She has lost 12kg since February, that's a lot on a tiny frame

Her running; she couldn't do 400m without stopping to begin with, and recently she did her first 5km across the bridge to the city and back

Lifting, she's giving as good as anyone in class now, benching 25kg, deadlifting 50kg. These aren't massive numbers, but when you consider the calorie deficit and the cardio improvement, it's hard to excel at everything all the time

But Honeys story is one that everyone can learn from - just set a plan at the beginning, and just keep chipping away day by day week by week. That's what she's done, and now 8mths later we sit back and realize damn what a transformation! But really it's just those tiny steps every day that do it

Great job , super well deserving of Member of the Month!

MEMBER OF THE MONTH: TRACY

Tracy has trained with us for about 6mths, which is the absolute minimum time I would consider giving someone member of the month. There are people who have trained here years I'm still waiting for them to impress me 🤣

Tracy has been through some stuff. I won't go into detail here, many of you already know. But there's some roadblocks; personal life, injuries, mental, that she has overcome and continues to fight through every day to make it to class

There have definitely been days when life hasn't been kind, but she still fronts up every day and does her workout, because it makes her feel better

One setback I will mention is her Lisfranc foot surgery. Orthopedic surgeons say it is the worst foot injury you can have, it's usually reserved for heavy rugby players getting crunched in tackles. Somehow Tracy got one, and the rehab is painstakingly slow.

But she pushes through. She couldn't do a bodyweight lunge when she started. She couldn't run (at all). She couldn't do anything that flexes the toes really, or stand on one leg. Now she's running laps and doing jumps, squatting 50kg and doing walking lunges. It's quite the turnaround

And it's all down to consistency. It's the discipline to turn up, even when you don't want to or when it's hard

It also must be hard when you're dealing with some personal emotional stuff, and your trainer has the emotional support of a brick. But I try my best too

Brilliant job Tracy, clearly deserving of Member of the Month
