The Board and I are extremely excited to welcome everyone to a new season.
I personally want to thank you all for re-electing me as your President for the 2026/2027 season. I am so proud and privileged to represent such an incredible community. I also want to thank everyone who attended the AGM on Sunday, it was wonderful to see so many members engaged in the future progress of the Club.Β
I want to thank Tony Tier, outgoing Director of Education, and Nick Lawry, outgoing Director of Junior Activities. The work you have both put in over the past few seasons has been invaluable. I also want to welcome Rachel Maloney, our newly elected Director of Junior Activities, and Bonnie-Jean Newman, our newly elected Director of Education, both incredible appointments and assets to our Club.Β
A massiveΒ congratulations to Louis Tassone on receiving Life Membership. This recognition is very well deserved, and Louisβ list of achievements within Surf Life Saving is both incredible and admirable.Β
The βoff-seasonβ has been a busy one, with a great deal of preparation and planning happening. One of the most exciting developments is our UAV (drone) program, which is now in full swing. Thanks to Louis Tassone and Kevin Carliell, we almost have nine proficient pilots, with more members waiting to begin their UAV journey. This will help ensure we have strong βeyes in the skyβ coverage throughout the season.Β
The AV and security upgrade is well underway and will be complete by the time the flags are up. These improvements will help ensure the Club is better equippedΒ and more functional for our community. The bar upgrade is also about to begin, and look forward to seeing this space refreshed and ready to support the celebrations that bring our Club community together.Β
