Dressage NSW and the wider dressage community are mourning the loss of renowned FEI 5 (Level 4) Judge, Stephen Clarke.
Stephen was one of the most highly respected and admired dressage judges in the world, and he will be greatly missed.

We were privileged to welcome him on many occasions to judge and conduct clinics at Dressage NSW events, including the Australian Dressage Championships and the Sydney CDI. He was a warm, generous and engaging person who inspired and supported fellow judges, while also assisting countless riders through his positivity and willingness to share his expertise.

Stephen thoroughly enjoyed judging in Australia, often remarking that it “brought him closer to the sport.”

The sport of dressage is all the better for everything Stephen Clarke contributed over so many decades. Those of us fortunate enough to have known him personally have benefited from his wisdom, friendship and passion for the sport.

Our thoughts are with Stephen’s family, friends and the international dressage community at this sad time.

Thank you to Andrew & Sue Hearn for adding to the fun and atmosphere on Saturday night. Sue kindly took the horses home before returning with the dogs for the races, while Andrew brought along his bagpipes to help create a memorable evening.
