Weekly belly dance lessons in Kiama, Dharawal Country NSW since 2021 ✨🍉💗 Message for performance and teaching enquiries.

Specialising in Egyptian and Turkish styles. Ellie Maye has been dancing since childhood and fell in love with belly dancing in 2014. A teacher for over 5 years, she has studied and taught traditional, modern and contemporary fusion styles of belly dance. Ellie is a certified Bellyqueen teacher (2022), trained under Kaeshi Chai. She is also certified in Keti Sharif's A-Z Original, Advanced, Teache

r and Performer Bellydance methodology (2021). Ellie is also proud to be a Shimmy Mob team leader, dancing each year with women across the globe and in the local community to raise awareness of domestic violence. In 2022, Ellie was selected as the choreography winner for Shimmy Mob. Ellie has a PhD in mental health, and prides herself on providing a welcoming and safe environment for her students.

Our 6:30pm class is FULL (waitlist only), so if you want to dance this term, 7:30pm is your class.

🔥Wednesdays 7:30pm - Khaleeji Technique and Choreography

We’re learning beginner Khaleeji technique and choreography this term. Khaleeji is a soft and joyful Gulf women’s social dance from the Gulf region.

If you’ve been wanting to return, restart, or try something new, this is a beautiful term to join. Suitable for dancers with 6+ months' experience.

What sits beneath a performance? There’s so much breadth and diversity to dancers’ artistic choices, and I kind of love the mystery of perhaps never fully knowing why someone chose that song, that costume, that movement, that prop… I’ve been enjoying learning others’ choreographies a lot this year, but for this event I wanted to just do something that resonates with where I’m at. This improvised Turkish fusion piece carries little threads, literally and figuratively, of things, places and people that I love. It was nice to step out of my “usual” for a moment.

Here's a taste of our Mahraganat medley performance from this years' Newcastle Bellydance Festival back in March.

We had so much fun working on this. The girls trained hard, in a style completely new to them. So proud of you all. 💜

I choreographed this right after my first trip to Egypt so it will always hold special, slightly chaotic memories 😁

A big thank you to the festival organisers, all the teachers, dancers, and supporters for making events like this happen.
