⭐ Meet the Committee – Vince Caprara, General Committee
Vince may have joined Wenty around 2016, but his history with the club goes back much further – just not always on our side of the table! Back in the 1970s, Vince represented Manly Leagues Club and remembers competing against Wenty, long before he would eventually become one of our own committee members.
His involvement in table tennis has spanned decades. In the early 1980s, Vince served on the committee of a North Shore competition, and the sport has remained a constant throughout his life. These days, with retirement on the horizon, he already has the important part of the plan sorted: more table tennis!
Away from the table, Vince enjoys spending time with his family, travelling the world and keeping up with his grandkids. He and his wife have visited countries across Europe and beyond, with Croatia holding a special place as a favourite destination – not least because of his wife's Croatian heritage and, according to Vince, because the mainstream tourists haven't completely discovered it yet!
He's also a keen fisherman with a story that demonstrates some serious persistence. After a ten-year quest, Vince finally achieved his goal of catching a marlin from the rocks while land-based game fishing.
And after decades around the sport, what does Vince particularly appreciate about Wenty? Apparently, the fact that it's only ten minutes from home! If you've met Vince, that answer probably won't surprise you – there's usually a joke or two never too far away.
