To the Locals dads.

The ones on the mats. The ones on the sidelines. The ones who’ve sat through every grading, every comp, every training morning and Afternoon.

You show up. Week in, week out. You drive across town after a full day’s work. You tie belts, you carry gear bags, you cheer loudest when your kid finally hits the sweep they’ve been chasing for months.

Some of you train alongside your kids. Some of you watch from the bench. All of you are teaching them the same thing, that you turn up for the people you love, even when you’re tired.

We could only pull a handful of photos together for this one. There are hundreds more we didn’t get. But you don’t need a photo on the wall to know what you mean to your kids, or to this academy.

Absolute pleasure having our good friend Junior in for an Academy Takeover! 🤝🥋

The knowledge he shared and his ability to break down positions in a way that connected with both our kids and adults was incredible.

There’s no doubt the next chapter of his journey is going to be a huge success, and we’re proud to support him every step of the way.

Two academies. One moving, one built from nothing.

We’re filming all of it.

One is relocating packing up a room where thousands of rounds have been rolled, and rebuilding it somewhere new. The other has never had a single class. No mats down yet. Just a floor plan and an opening date we can’t move.
Between now and then: getting tatami through the door, laying out a mat space that actually works for a full class, sorting the kids program timetable, and finding out whether the members follow us across the suburb.
So we’re putting a camera on it. The stuff that stalls. The costs that hurt. The nights it looks like it won’t come together.

And hopefully a packed first session. Warm-up, technique, hands slapped, first roll on a brand new mat.

Over the coming weeks we’re introducing the coaches and partners actually carrying this. The ones on the mats at 6am and answering messages at 11pm. None of this is one person’s doing.

Aussie owned. Aussie run. Built by locals, for locals.

Saturday vibes are the best vibes!
Our Saturday classes are always packed, full of energy, and honestly one of our favourite days of the week.
What we love most? Watching the whole family come together parents, kids, grandparents, all cheering from the sidelines. And the beautiful mix of nationalities and cultures in the room? It makes every class feel extra special.
Different backgrounds, one shared love for what we do. That’s the magic.
And of course… it’s always great to see that familiar face of Master Frank leading the way!
