One of the biggest hurdles to overcome when coaching youth players is developing confidence in contact.
Footwork, body height, head placement, wrap and finish. Itβs a lot to remember before you even add in the fear of getting hurt! π€ Our method is to start small and simple, then gradually layer on the difficulty until it looks like the game of rugby. With every step, weβre trying to get players to experience small wins and learn kinaesthetically what a good contact feels like. Low, safe, and effective. Thereβs few things better than seeing a player surprise himself by tackling someone twice their size and realising, when you get the technique right, it doesnβt hurt at all! This builds confidence. π€
If this is something youβd like you child to learn, take a look at the Summer Skills Camp happening this Dec! Link in bio.
