If your child can’t juggle 500 in a row, here’s the fix.

There’s no secret to it. Just practice.

5-10 minutes daily or near-daily.

Anyone who’s been “training” for months & still can’t do it hasn’t really been training.

Do it consistently & they’ll pick it up very quickly.

Why does it matter?

First impressions.

If teammates are playing two-touch before a trial & your child can’t play the game, the other players judge them straight away.

How do we trust his touch under pressure?

And it translates to everything else.

Hitting the ball with the laces translates to striking shots & long balls.

Juggling with the inside of the foot translates to receiving & passing.

It builds the feeling & relationship with the ball that every other skill sits on top of.

5-10 minutes a day.

Let it compound.

The reason your child gets subbed off at half time as a CM.

They go missing after a mistake.

Losing the ball as a midfielder is normal.

What can’t happen is hiding after it.

When a CM stops showing for the ball, the coach sees a player without the character to play through a bad patch.

That’s the sub.

The coach will stick with a midfielder who keeps working & keeps wanting the ball, even on a bad day.

So teach your child to play THEIR game after a mistake.

Demand the next pass straight away.

That’s what keeps them on the pitch.

The position your child plays at 12 probably isn’t where they’ll end up.

From 12 to 18 everything changes.

I’ve seen kids playing centre back at 12 end up as strikers at 18.

& players don’t choose their final position.

It finds them.

An injury, a rotation, a coach trying something new.

Which is why the smart move is training the 4 skills that work in EVERY position.

First touch. Running with the ball. Striking the ball. 1v1s.
