🎾 Fresh courts and plenty to celebrate at Nareena Hills Tennis Club! 👏

Last week, Tennis NSW CEO Liv Thornton and members of the Tennis NSW Field Team joined the Nareena Hills Tennis Club community to celebrate the completion of important facility upgrades, including the repair and resurfacing of one of the club's courts.

These enhancements will help ensure members and the wider community can continue to enjoy quality playing facilities for years to come, supporting participation and strengthening the long-term sustainability of the club.

A huge congratulations to everyone involved in bringing the project to life. It's always fantastic to see investment in community tennis facilities making a real difference on and off the court.

In Loving Memory of Stephen John Harris
30 June 1960 – 9 June 2026

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Stephen John Harris, aged 65, on 9 June 2026.

Beloved son of Sheila and Barry, devoted husband of Annette, loving father of Susan and Brett, cherished father-in-law of Ben, and proud Poppa to Mackenzie, Brooklyn and Carter. Much-loved brother of Glen and Julie.

Stephen was a man who always had time for everyone. He spent much of his life behind a stringing machine, building not only a respected career but countless friendships along the way. Known for his kindness, generosity and endless stories, he had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome and valued.

Steve will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and by those who never had the chance to meet such a caring and genuine man. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends and all whose lives he touched.

Family and friends are warmly invited to celebrate Stephen's life on Thursday, 25 June 2026 at 11:00am at the Cheltenham Recreation Club.

A wake will follow at the club, where family and friends are welcome to gather, share memories and celebrate Steve's life.

Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the Harris family during this time.

Young women aged 14-18 are invited to apply for the 2026 Learn 2 Lead program, an eight-week leadership initiative designed to build confidence, develop skills and inspire positive change in local tennis communities.

The program combines in-person workshops and online sessions, connecting participants with peers and tennis role models.

Up to 14 places are available, with the program fully subsidised and travel support available for regional participants.

Program starts: 24 July 2026

Delivered in partnership with the NSW Hardcourt Tennis Association, the Metropolitan Hardcourt Closed Championships brings together the long‑running Sydney Closed and Metropolitan Hardcourt Championships into one unified event, continuing a proud tradition dating back to 1933, with past champions including John Bromwich, Lew Hoad, Mal Anderson, Bill Bowrey, Kim Warwick, Craig Miller, Evonne Goolagong and Dianne Fromholtz.

Voyager Tennis is proud to announce the official opening of the new European clay courts at Voyager Tennis Meadowbank, a project fully funded by Voyager as part of our ongoing investment in quality community tennis facilities.

The courts were officially opened on Wednesday, 3 June by City of Ryde Mayor Trenton Brown.

Voyager Tennis Managing Director Ryan Henry said:

"We're committed to continually investing in our venues to create great experiences for our players and local communities. The new European clay courts add another dimension to tennis at Meadowbank and we're excited to see our community enjoying them for years to come."

We look forward to welcoming players onto the clay courts soon and thank City of Ryde, Tennis NSW and SSMG for their support throughout the project.

🎾 Smiles, laughter and plenty of tennis fun at Northwest Tennis Academy's latest All Abilities Come & Try Day! 💙

Hosted in Tamworth, the event welcomed four new participants to the sport, providing a fun, inclusive and supportive environment for everyone to get involved and give tennis a go.

The success of these sessions is already translating into ongoing participation, with NWTA's weekly All Abilities program now attracting up to 35 participants every Monday — a fantastic reflection of the growing demand for inclusive tennis opportunities in the region 👏
