It’s official—my first book is coming.

Stage Ready: The Ultimate Dance Competition Guide for Parents will be released on 23 September 2026, with Kindle pre-orders now open through Amazon.com.

After more than three decades as a Dancer, Educator, Judge, Studio Director and Competition Producer, I wanted to write the honest guide I believe dance families have been waiting for.

Stage Ready takes parents behind the costumes, trophies and stage lights to explore what competitive dance really involves.

It covers budgeting and managing expenses, competition entries, costumes, travel, preparing for competition day, communicating with teachers and knowing what to do when something goes wrong.

There are chapters about handling pressure, conflict and disappointing results; helping children develop resilience without taking away their love of performing; and recognising when a young dancer needs rest, support or simply permission to say no.
The book also discusses protecting their education, wellbeing and long-term relationship with dance.

It includes practical checklists, planning tools and conversation scripts that parents can actually use—not just theory.

I believe this is the first book of its kind written specifically for parents navigating the complex and emotionally intense world of competitive dance in Australia and New Zealand.

It shares the guidance families are rarely given, drawn from decades of real experiences onstage, backstage and behind the judging and production tables.
