MEET JOHN: John’s Horsemanship and Reining training videos are not just for Reiners, or even just western riders. It doesn’t matter your discipline, even if you enjoy trail riding, you and your horse will benefit from John’s On line Video Library with Foundation Training videos Library through to his Reining Training Library.

John teaches a series of exercises that he uses in his everyday training program. After watching John’s training videos people are able to combine the exercises and techniques to their own training program. People can’t believe how much more relaxed, supple and softer their horse feels after applying John’s training methods.
John is extremely patient and has a very thorough but easy to understand way of teaching. You will find John very down to earth and humble. He is all inclusive to every participant, regardless of their age or experience. John teaches regular Horsemanship and Reining clinics and has 25 years of knowledge to share with everyone involved.

Six time Australian National Open Reining Futurity Champion, Australian Reining Hall of Fame inductee and recipient of three Living Legends awards in the sport of Reining, John is one Australia’s most celebrated horsemen and popular clinicians.
He has twice represented Australia in Reining, first in 1995 at the International Reining Council in Oklahoma, and then in 2014 at the World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France. John was also part of the Australian Reining Demonstration Team at the Sydney 2000 Olympics, showcasing the sport to 20,000 equestrian enthusiasts.

The hallmarks of John’s training program are understanding each horse is an individual, creating a solid foundation, and building confidence that lasts a lifetime. John’s open futurity and derby champion horses are renowned for going on to enjoy successful show careers with non-pros.

Today John runs one of the most successful Reining performance horse training and coaching operations in Australia with his wife Angie.

👉“I love that there is no 'one size fits all' approach. Angie and John have a calm and gentle teaching style, all the exercises in the videos are so easy to understand. No matter what discipline or ability (Ridden, Groundwork, Western or English) there is something for everyone to learn.” ~ Jazz Harris 👈

MEET ANGIE: Horses have always been a part of Angie’s life. From childhood memories to present day, her natural affinity for horses and passion to understand their behaviour have shaped the horsewomen, trainer and clinician Angie is today.

A dedicated student of the horse, Angie has spent over 25 years refining her skills in ground, ridden and liberty work across a variety of training methods and disciplines.
She is accomplished in both English and Western, having trained and competed at FEI Level Dressage, won and placed in multiple National and State Open Level Reining Futurities and Derbies, including the Open Reining at Equitana, and at State Level Western Dressage.

However, Angie’s true calling is to inspire and teach others to train their own horses using her relationship based approach built on Connection, Relaxation and Confidence.

From her experience delivering horsemanship and riding clinics Australia-wide, Angie recognised the need for easily accessible training tools that people could continue to use at home to develop their skills between clinics.

Tapping into her background in Education as a qualified teacher, Angie developed her own unique online training toolkit and learning community, and is now realising the dream of sharing her knowledge with people regardless of their goal, level or discipline.

With a genuine love for teaching to match her love of horses, Angie is a sought after clinician and mentor, building confidence and connection with her students and their horses. When not delivering clinics or developing new online learning content, Angie is the driving force at Wicks Equine managing all aspects of the multi-faceted business. In her spare time, Angie enjoys time at the beach with her husband John and their dogs.
