Chans Martial Arts Sydney

Chans Martial Arts Sydney At Chans Martial Arts, we teach Shao Chi Chuan Kung Fu and Sing Ong Tai Chi. Sydney - Ultimo est. 2009
Sydney South - Oyster Bay (opening 3 Sep 2025)

Grandmaster Chan founded Chans Martial Arts’ in 1975 in New Zealand. Our organisation is one of the largest and most reputable in New Zealand and has a strong network of centres throughout the country and has links with many top masters world-wide. Shao Chi Chuan Kung Fu is based on classical Tai Chi Chuan principles and is composed of various long and short range techniques, holds and throws. Sha

o Chi Chuan deploys biomechanically sound self defence techniques and psychologically positive teaching methods. The result is a highly effective and precise martial art that equips students with a comprehensive set of skills and tactics for self-defence, whilst simultaneously encouraging relaxed, efficient movement and good physical condition. As Shao Chi Chuan is an internal martial art and is not a sport, students are encouraged to develop into well rounded martial artists with strong values of patience, resilience, loyalty and honour. Due to its low impact and well-structured syllabus, Shao Chi Chuan is suitable for students of all capabilities and backgrounds. Our Kung Fu schools are located primarily across New Zealand as well as the US, and the UK.

Sing Ong Tai Chi

Our school offers an environment where people of all ages and abilities are able to learn Yang style Tai Chi. Tai Chi Chuan is a low impact way to relax and exercise at the same time. Students who train regularly enjoy a great number of health benefits such as reduced muscle tension, improved posture, better blood circulation, balance, stability, coordination, ease of movement and quicker recovery from injury. Develop mindfulness through movement. Increase balance and reduce your risk of falling. Increase and maintain mobility and flexibility. Discover a different stress management strategy. Learn to train through injuries. Manage your body with empathy at all stages in your life.

Xie xie Linus Laoshi for presiding over Sydney Central's first grading of 2026!

Our Sydney Central Students made a strong showing of their skills and we are looking forward to presenting grading feedback and results over the next week.

Despite a small intake of in-person students, our branch continues to be dedicated to training for a high standard of Kung Fu.

We enjoy a boost through existing members who continue training with us remotely (within Australia and UK, EU).

If you're interested in joining us (casually or regularly) online, please discuss with your instructor/LaoShi prior to reaching out to Suyi LaoShi.
