Grandmaster Chan founded Chans Martial Artsβ in 1975 in New Zealand. Our organisation is one of the largest and most reputable in New Zealand and has a strong network of centres throughout the country and has links with many top masters world-wide. Shao Chi Chuan Kung Fu is based on classical Tai Chi Chuan principles and is composed of various long and short range techniques, holds and throws. Sha
o Chi Chuan deploys biomechanically sound self defence techniques and psychologically positive teaching methods. The result is a highly effective and precise martial art that equips students with a comprehensive set of skills and tactics for self-defence, whilst simultaneously encouraging relaxed, efficient movement and good physical condition. As Shao Chi Chuan is an internal martial art and is not a sport, students are encouraged to develop into well rounded martial artists with strong values of patience, resilience, loyalty and honour. Due to its low impact and well-structured syllabus, Shao Chi Chuan is suitable for students of all capabilities and backgrounds. Our Kung Fu schools are located primarily across New Zealand as well as the US, and the UK.
