This week 3 more struggling golfers told me…

"I don't have time".

Let's have an honest conversation about time.

Yesterday, you probably:

→ Scrolled social media for 30+ minutes
→ Watched TV for an hour after dinner
→ Spent 20 minutes reading random articles online

But you don't have 20-30 minutes 2-3 times a week for your body & your health?

I get it. I really do.

You're juggling work deadlines, family commitments, social obligations, and trying to squeeze in golf when you can.

The last thing you want is someone telling you to add more to your plate.

But here’s what I've learned from working with hundreds of busy golfers over 40:

It isn’t just a lack of time.

You lack a system that works with your reality.

Most golfers think fitness means:

→ 90+ minute gym sessions
→ 6 days per week commitment
→ Meal prep and strict diets
→ Complete lifestyle overhaul

No wonder you feel overwhelmed.

The truth about what actually works:

My busiest clients - CEOs, surgeons, traveling salesmen, busy dads - they all make progress with 20-30 minutes, 2-3 times a week.

That's it. 40-90 minutes total per week.

Two Netflix episodes.

One solid range session session.

Less time than you spent on social scrolling this week.

The real question isn't whether you have time.

It's whether losing distance every year, feeling stiff & sore after every round, and watching your clothes get tighter is worth 40-90 minutes of your week.

My client Mark runs a law firm, coaches his kid's soccer team, and travels constantly for work.

He was convinced he didn't have time.
Six months later?

Twenty-two yards more distance, zero back pain, and he's playing the best golf of his life.

His secret?

3 x super efficient 20-minute sessions per week in his home set up.

Stop making time the enemy.

Your golf game - and your health - deserve 40-90 minutes of your week.

The question is: are you ready to prioritise what matters, or will you keep making the same excuse next year?

Comment 'TIME' below if you're tired of letting this excuse hold you back.

The moment I realized golf fitness wasn't just about my handicap.

I was standing on the 15th tee, completely gassed.

My 12-year-old son was still bouncing with energy, asking if we could play the back nine again.

I wanted to say yes. But I was exhausted, my back was screaming, and honestly... I felt old.

That's when it hit me.

This isn't just about breaking 80 or hitting it past my buddies.

It's about being the dad who can walk 18 holes without wincing. The one who has energy left for putting contests after the round. The one who doesn't need a cart because his knees hurt.

Since I started taking my fitness seriously, everything changed:

→ I can carry my bag for 36 holes without back pain

→ My energy lasts through weekend family golf trips

→ I'm not too tired for range sessions with the kids

→ Golf became our thing again, not my burden

The weight I lost? The distance I gained? Those are just bonuses.

The real win is seeing my kids excited to spend 4 hours on the course with their old man.

Because they know I can actually keep up.

Your golf fitness journey isn't just about you. It's about who you want to be for the people who matter most.

And trust me - they're watching.

Can you relate? Comment 'FAMILY' below if this resonates with you.

The science-backed reason golfers over 40 should prioritize single-leg training over traditional squats.

Most golfers walk into the gym and default to bilateral leg training - squats, leg presses, and other bodybuilding movements.

But here's what the latest research reveals: unilateral training is superior for golfers in every measurable way.

The asymmetrical reality of golf:

Your swing isn't a symmetrical movement. During downswing, 85% of your weight transfers to your lead leg while your trail leg provides rotational power. Both legs work independently to create balance and stability.

Yet most golfers train both legs simultaneously under heavy spinal loading.

What the research shows:

A 2022 systematic review in Sports Medicine analyzed unilateral vs bilateral training in athletes. The results were clear:

→ 23% reduction in injury risk with single-leg training

→ Superior improvements in balance and stability

→ Better transfer to rotational sports performance

→ Significantly reduced spinal compression forces

For golfers over 40 dealing with tight hips, lower back issues, and balance deficits, this matters enormously.

The practical difference:

Bulgarian split squats, single-leg RDLs, and lateral lunges build the exact strength patterns your golf swing demands - without aggravating common problem areas.

My client James switched from heavy back squats to single-leg training after chronic lower back pain. Six weeks later? Pain-free golf, better balance, and 12 yards more distance.

The bottom line:

Train for the sport you play. Golf is asymmetrical. Your training should be too.

**Why golfers over 40 should ditch back squats for single-leg training.**

Still doing endless back squats thinking they'll improve your golf game?

Here's the problem: your golf swing is completely asymmetrical, but you're training both legs at the same time.

Your swing happens with weight shifting from one leg to the other. Your balance, power, and stability all depend on single-leg strength.

**The back squat issues for golfers:**

→ Loads a compressed spine under heavy weight

→ Can aggravate tight hips and lower backs

→ Doesn't address balance deficits

→ No carryover to rotational movement patterns

**Why single-leg training wins:**

The research is clear. Unilateral training reduces injury risk by 23%, improves balance and stability, and has direct transfer to rotational sports like golf.

When you're in your downswing, you're essentially on one leg generating massive rotational force. Train for that reality.

**The single-leg essentials every golfer needs:**

→ Bulgarian split squats for leg strength

→ Single-leg RDLs for balance and posterior chain

→ Lateral lunges for hip mobility

→ Step-ups for functional power

My client Mark switched from heavy back squats to single-leg training. Result?

Better balance, zero back pain, and 15 yards more distance in 8 weeks.

**The bottom line:**

Train like your swing demands. Asymmetrical sport requires asymmetrical training.

Your hips, back, and golf scores will thank you.

"I went from embarrassed to eagles in 12 weeks."

Rob came to me shooting low 90s after a 10-year break from golf.

He was frustrated, embarrassed, and honestly questioning if he'd ever get his game back.

"I used to shoot high 70s and low 80s consistently. Now I can barely break 90. My body feels different, my swing feels off, and I'm just not enjoying golf anymore."

Sound familiar?

Here's what we discovered during Rob's movement assessment:

→ Severe hip mobility restrictions limiting his turn → Weak glutes causing power leaks in his swing

→ Poor shoulder stability affecting his consistency → Zero endurance for walking 18 holes

We didn't just work on his fitness. We rebuilt his golf body from the ground up.

**The results came fast:**

Week 2: First round under 90 in months Week 4: Shot an 84, then an 80 Week 8: Broke into the 70s with a 78 Week 12: Career round of 76 and his first eagle in years

But here's what really matters:

"The program has unfrozen my mobility and made golf fun again. I'm playing the best golf of my life, hitting it 10 yards longer, and walking 36 holes every Tuesday without getting tired. It's added years to my game."

Rob went from avoiding golf trips with his buddies to leading the group again.

That's what happens when you address the real problem - your body.

Title: Assistant Golf Fitness Coach – Help Golfers Over 40 Play Their Best

About Us: At Golfer’s Edge Fitness, we help golfers over 40 drop belly fat, add distance, improve flexibility, and play pain-free — without spending hours in the gym. We’ve worked with hundreds of golfers to transform their health and golf game, and now we’re looking for an Assistant Golf Fitness Coach to join the team.

The Role: This is a part-time, remote role (with potential to grow to full-time) supporting our online coaching clients. You’ll work closely with me, Andrew Ransom (Golfer’s Edge Founder), to deliver world-class programming, support, and accountability.

Responsibilities:

* Deliver weekly client check-ins via our coaching app.
* Adjust and update client programs based on progress, goals, and feedback.
* Provide form/technique guidance through video review.
* Monitor client compliance and results, and escalate issues when needed.
* Maintain communication tone and style consistent with Golfer’s Edge brand.

We’re looking for someone who:

* Has experience in strength & conditioning, golf-specific fitness, or sports performance.
* Understands the needs of clients 40+ (injury prevention, mobility, strength).
* Is a great communicator — warm, encouraging, and detail-oriented.
* Is organised and can manage multiple clients without dropping the ball.
* Is happy to work behind the scenes — this is a delivery role, not a personal brand role.

Preferred (but not essential) qualifications:

* Cert III/IV in Fitness or higher.
* CHEK, TPI, FMS, or similar golf/functional training certifications.
* Experience working with online training platforms (Trainerize, TrueCoach, Skool etc.).

Hours & Pay:
* Start part-time with ~20–25 clients, 3–5 hours/week.
* Competitive hourly or per-client rate, based on experience.

It’s always the way…

You’ll find money for what matters to you.

Always have. Always will.

That $800 driver sitting in your garage?
You found the money.

Those weekend beers and uber eats?
Money’s never an issue.

The latest training aids promising distance?
Credit card comes out fast.

But when it comes to fixing the gut that’s killing your confidence?

Losing the weight that’s making you avoid family photos?

Building the energy to actually enjoy time with your kids?

Suddenly money’s “tight.”

Let’s be honest about what “I can’t afford it” really means: “I don’t value myself enough to prioritise this.”

And watching that happen breaks my heart.

Because while you’re waiting for the “perfect time” financially, you’re paying a different price:

→ Another year hating how you look in golf shirts
→ Avoiding the beach with your family because you’re embarrassed
→ Having no energy left for your kids after work
→ Watching yourself slowly disappear

Golf Fit 90™: One investment that transforms your life

Weekend habits: $150+ every week on stuff that’s slowly killing you

Which one changes your life?
Which one makes you the man your family deserves?

Nothing changes if nothing changes.

Your gut won’t magically disappear.
Your energy won’t mysteriously return.
Your confidence won’t suddenly appear.

The question isn’t whether you can afford to invest in yourself.
The question is: Can you afford not to?

Can you afford another year of feeling like this?
Can you afford to keep letting yourself down?
Can you afford to stay the man you don’t want to be?

You matter. Your health matters. Your family needs the best version of you.

These taught me a brutal lesson about self-awareness…

My beautiful Titleist 695 MBs were going to make me a better golfer.

2015. Standing in the pro shop, admiring those muscle-back irons.

Sleek. Classic.
The kind of clubs “real golfers” played.

I’d been hitting them well on the range.
Center of the face felt locked in.

“I’m ready for these,” I told myself.

The ego rush was intoxicating.
Walking to the first tee, knowing other golfers would notice.

But golf has a way of humbling you.
Those gorgeous irons turned into torture devices.

Thin shots that barely got airborne.
Fat shots that went nowhere.
The occasional pure strike that reminded me why I bought them.

Round after round, scores climbed.
Greens in regulation plummeted.
Confidence cracked with every mish*t.

But I couldn’t admit it.

“I just need more practice.”
“My swing will catch up.”
“Real golfers play blades.”

Years of denial later, I finally faced the truth: I wasn’t the golfer I thought I was.

Swallowing my pride, I traded them for AP3s.

The difference was immediate.
→ Higher ball flight
→ More forgiveness
→ 3-4 more greens in regulation
→ Golf was fun again

That experience taught me: Honest self-assessment is the foundation of improvement.

I see this same pattern in fitness:

Golfers choosing workouts for who they want to be, not who they are.

Attempting advanced exercises when they can’t master basics.

Ego driving decisions instead of logic.

The breakthrough comes when you get honest.

In coaching, I ask the hard questions:

“What’s really holding you back?”

“Where are you now, honestly?”

Sometimes the answer hurts your ego.
But it’s always the path forward.

Real improvement starts with real honesty.

What’s something you had to admit you weren’t ready for?

Here’s just one week from regular golfers with jobs and families...

THE WINS:

Grant: Won the club competition. 38 points in wind and rain.

Nick: “Pair of shorts that I couldn’t wear now fit 😎”

Allison: “More golf pants to wear that were hiding in the back of the cupboard 💃”

Luke: “After today’s round it’s official - one club longer!”

Minh: “203 lbs… lowest I’ve weighed in +20 years.”

Ronnie: Won the roll-up stableford with 39 points.

Stephen: “A couple PBs in the gym”

Mark: “More steps, more weight lifted, definitely more flexibility”

THE REALITY:

These aren’t pros or genetic freaks.

They’re accountants, tradies, business owners, mums and dads.

People juggling work deadlines, school pick-ups, and everything else life throws at them.

But they made a decision that changed everything.

They stopped making excuses and started following a proven system.

THE DIFFERENCE:

It’s not about having more time.
It’s about having the right plan.

A plan that fits real life.
A plan with accountability.
A plan that actually works.

Grant didn’t win his club comp by accident.
Nick didn’t magically fit into old clothes.
Luke didn’t gain distance through wishful thinking.

They followed the same blueprint that’s helped hundreds of golfers transform their bodies and their games.

THE TRUTH:
You’re not too busy.
You’re not too old.
You’re not too far gone.

You just need to take the first step.
Like these golfers did.

Ready to follow the same blueprint?

06/08/2025

Every fibre of my being wanted to stay in bed…

4am alarm blaring.

This was supposed to be “self-improvement.”

Three kids.
40+ hours of in-person PT sessions spread across split shifts.

I was trapped in a cycle:
↳ Early morning clients
↳ Brief break for drop-offs
↳ Afternoon sessions during dinner
↳ Miss the kids’ bedtime routine
↳ Collapse, exhausted

There was no time to build anything bigger.
No time to create the online program I knew would help more golfers.

So I made a brutal decision: wake up at 4am.

Those quiet morning hours were my only chance:
→ To build
→ To learn
→ To grow
→ To test new approaches

While the world slept, I worked on transitioning from trading hours for dollars to building something scalable.

For an introvert, creating an online presence felt like torture. But staying stuck felt worse.

Some mornings, dragging myself out of bed, I’d wonder: “Is this all worth it?”
The exhaustion was crushing.

Patience with the kids?
Non-existent when running on 6 hours sleep.

Connection with my wife?
Harder when your brain feels fried.

Balance?
What balance?

But those brutal 4am sessions taught me something invaluable:
Discipline isn’t about feeling motivated.
It’s about showing up when you don’t want to.

Day after day.
Week after week.
Building something bigger than today’s comfort.

Those early mornings created the systems that changed everything.

Now I can take my family on holiday while my clients continue getting incredible results.

The program I dreamed about during those 4am sessions?
It’s helping golfers transform worldwide.

Was it worth it?
Every 4am alarm was worth it.

Those dark mornings taught me that progress isn’t punishment.
It’s the price of becoming who you’re meant to be.
