almost bed-time you lot, so we may as well look at something spooky before snooze o'clock .. Adam Watherston sent this one in this evening, asking .. 'hey guys, I was wondering if you know what this is .. it was on the tail of a Snapper ?' .. louse of a thing ..

Todd's Cod: not to forget the freshwater scene, especially when it comes to old mate Cod .. the GC would be about the only place in Australia where within easy fisho reach are three 'species' of freshwater Cod - the Murray Cod (western Queensland), the Mary River Cod (Mary River system & stocked impoundments), and the Eastern Cod (Clarence & Richmond systems in northern NSW). It would be a pretty sporting objective to catch (and release) all 3 in one day ... [Admins note: special prize will be awarded to the first person to send in photographic evidence of having done it !]

Here Todd Hoffschildt looks pretty pleased with his recently caught Murray Cod, reporting 'went out to Stanthorpe and caught this lil fella on a Stumpjumper' .. lovely fish they are ..

fishos on wheels: we've discussed here before good spots on the GC where wheelchair fishos can get decent access to the water & have a crack. Steve Walker, pictured here having a go near Hope Island, loves fishing & hasn't been in his wheelchair all that long. He's from up Ipswich way but comes fishing to the GC whenever he can.

Being a relatively recent recruit to the wheelchair fishing club, Steve's interested to hear if there's anyone out there (with or without wheels) who could help him in terms of teaming up for the occasional fishing outing, good spots to go etc. We'd be grateful if the GCFN 'crew' could give this some thought .. anyone wishing to contact Steve should be able to via the comments below .. cheers

'morning all .. Nathan Kearnes first Bream on a hard body .. he was out on his yak a few days ago, reporting 'chasing Bass just north of the Gold Coast .. caught a couple of Bass and a Spangled Perch, but also this Bream took a liking to the lure' .. voracious little beast ..

‘The K-Files’ are to be a fortnightly 'week that was' report – for his sins, local fisho Marc ‘Krummers’ Krummenacher works in Mt Isa week on week off & when he’s home on his week off pretty much amuses himself by going fishing.

Each fortnight we’ll post a summary from Krummers that briefly describes what he got up to & what he found to be happening around the GC fishing scene during that week – a ‘week that was’ kind of summary ...

GCFN photographers were cruising around a few riverine haunts an hour or so ago - looking for some local fishing action - when we noticed this fella flicking a white Berkley swimbait in the mid reaches of the Nerang River. He got smashed by something in the murky shallows while we were watching, but despite previous heckling, persists with the same unsuitable footwear ..

It was a lovely evening on the river.

Tropic Mood: about this time yesterday afternoon Shelleykay Wareing was out fishing with her husband and daughter up Coombabah Creek when she captured this beautiful image. Shelleykay said .. 'it was late yesterday arvo .. the storm was rolling in as the sun was setting .. it was so beautiful' and added 'my daughter's the only one who caught something .. we pumped a few yabbies on the sandbank and my daughter caught a nice bream !' .. what a perfect evening ..
