Congratulations to David Shields on being awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in the 2026 King's Birthday Honours List.
David has dedicated more than 40 years to Surf Life Saving and has been a valued member of BMD Northcliffe Surf Club since 1988. He served as Vice President of Life Saving from 1991 and led the club as President from 1994 to 2024, providing three decades of outstanding leadership.
Throughout his time at Northcliffe, David has contributed across many areas of the club, including serving on the Supporters Club Committee, volunteering as a Nipper Age Manager, and continuing his active patrol service as a Patrol Captain since 2013. He has also played a key role in securing the club's future through his work as Sponsorship and Fundraising Manager since 2010.
David's commitment, leadership and service have been instrumental in shaping the growth and success of BMD Northcliffe Surf Club, leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come. This honour is a fitting recognition of his remarkable contribution to Surf Life Saving and our community.
