Long Term Athlete Development
Long term athlete development strategy has become a popular notion for many developed nations. Coaches, parents, administrators and athletes need to have a long-term view for our sport. This long-term outlook is confirmed in many articles and texts. Many of these mention the Ten-Year Rule that suggests “that world – class expertise in every domain (violin, math, chess and so on) requires roughly a decade of committed practice. Indeed, scientific research has identified that it takes at least 10 years, or 10,000 hours for talented athletes to achieve sporting excellence and even if it's opposed by some new researches, a young athlete is at high risk of burn out without investing this amount of training. For athlete and coach, this translates into slightly more than three hours of training or competition daily (with appropriate recovery) for 10 years. There are no short cuts!

LTAD model rough guidelines:
Active Start : 0-6 years
Fundamentals: 5-8 (Female) 6-9 (Male)
Learn to Train: 8-11(F) 9-12 (M)
Train to Train: 11-14(F) 12-15 (M)
Train to Compete: 14-16(F) 15-18(M)
Compete to Win: Sustain winning performance
Active for Life: Healthy life long activity

Next, i will discuss the content and focus of each phase of this strategy for overall skill development for athletes.

Y BALANCE TEST
The Y Balance Test was developed to refine the lengthy process of conducting the Star Excursion Balance Test. As such, most of the supportive research for the Y Balance Test is based upon the investigations conducted on the Star Excursion Balance Test. Nevertheless, the Y Balance Test has not only proven itself to have a high-level of test–retest reliability, but also to be a sensitive indicator of injury risk among-st athletes.
Scoring System
With the test complete and all performances recorded, the test administrator can then calculate the athletes YBT performance scores using any of, or all of, the following three equations (9):

Absolute reach distance (cm) = (Reach 1 + Reach 2 + Reach 3) / 3
Relative (normalised) reach distance (%) = Absolute reach distance / limb length * 100
Composite reach distance (%) = Sum of the 3 reach directions / 3 times the limb length * 100

CRYOTHERAPY
Cryotherapy is a non-invasive, fast and effective hyper-cooling treatment that is suitable for anyone seeking muscle recovery and repair, injury treatment, weight loss or skin rejuvenation.
The natural response to the cold is an increase in blood flow to the internal organs and a flooding of the red blood cells with oxygen, nutrients and enzymes.
On leaving the Cryosauna room, your temperature rapidly returns to normal releasing the enriched blood back into the skin and muscle tissues for immediate and lasting results.
Regularly used by elite athletes and endorsed by renowned motivational speaker, Anthony Robbins, Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) helps:

-boost metabolism to help you lose weight faster
-increase endorphins for elevated physical and mental well-being
-flush toxins from the skin and muscle tissue
-relieve and soothe joint pain and inflammation
-improve muscle repair and recovery.
