🏀🌍 Pescara will host the World Deaf Basketball Championships 2027!

It’s official! From June 8–19, 2027, Pescara, Italy, will welcome the World Deaf Basketball Championships 2027, the premier international event for Deaf basketball.

Athletes from around the globe will come together to compete at the highest level while celebrating excellence, inclusion, teamwork, and the true spirit of sport.

Congratulations to the DIBF, FSSI, ICSD, and all the partners involved in bringing this prestigious event to Italy. We look forward to welcoming the international Deaf basketball community to Pescara for an unforgettable championship!

Flashback to the DIBF Youth Basketball Camp 2022 in Hannover, Germany! Four years ago, young deaf athletes from around the world came together to learn, grow, and build friendships through basketball. Today, we are proud to see Miroslav Tkalenko, Valeriia Kalmykova, and Yaroslav Stryzhak of Ukraine continuing that journey on the international stage at the 2026 U21 World Deaf Basketball Championships in Lublin, Poland. Their development from youth camp participants to international competitors reflects the power of dedication, opportunity, and the lasting impact of youth development programs. The future we saw in 2022 is becoming reality today.

Hello everyone! 👋

This time, we’re trying a different format — a Zoom panel discussion featuring two outstanding women with many years of experience in sports. 🏆

🇱🇹 Sonata from Lithuania played as a guard and has participated in the Deaflympics eight times.

🇸🇪 Fatima from Sweden has competed at a high level in four different sports: tennis, basketball, futsal, and padel.

The theme of the discussion is:
✨ “Two Veteran Athletes, One Shared Journey” ✨

During the session, I’ll be asking them about their experiences, challenges, and achievements throughout their sporting journeys. They will also share how determination and passion have shaped their paths, and discuss ways we can support and inspire future female athletes. 💪
