I really enjoyed this conversation with Tony on Work Sucks, But I Like It.

We spoke about work, but not in the way most people do.

Because for most of my life, work felt like obligation. Something I had to do. A role I was supposed to fulfil. Be the provider. Pay the bills. Keep going. No questions asked.

And yet somewhere along the way, that shifted.

What I’ve come to see, and what we touched on in this conversation, is that work changes completely when you stop living from obligation… and start living from aliveness.

When you follow what lights you up, what draws you forward, what feels true for you — work stops being something you endure, and becomes something you get to experience.

There’s a very different energy in that.

Thank you Tony for creating a space for a real, honest conversation. I think there are some powerful insights here for anyone who has ever felt stuck in a version of work, or life, that no longer fits.

When I speak, I’m not inviting organisations into a conversation about identity.

It’s irrelevant.

What IS relevant, in a world that seems more insecure & frightening than ever, is a deeper conversation about belief, fear, responsibility, and the internal narratives that shape how people lead, decide, relate, and perform.

My own life required radical honesty and courage to outgrow a story that no longer fitted me.

The same dynamics play out every day in workplaces - in how safe people feel about speaking up, & taking risks.

It blows my mind how much of our human potential goes untapped because of the stories that are going on in people’s heads that they believe are truths, and how often familiarity & a perception of safety is chosen over meaningful change.

My work is about helping people become aware of those stories, loosen their grip on a “reality” that no longer serves, build a future based on possibility rather than fear, & unlock a level of performance and aliveness that has always been there, but never tapped into.

You feel stuck.
You’ve tried everything.
You don’t know what to do
you’ve read all the books, set all the goals, done the courses, showed up and still, here you are going round in circles wondering what’s wrong with you.
What if there’s nothing wrong with you at all?
What if you’re stuckness, is actually protecting you?
Because as much as you say you hate being stuck, maybe there’s a part of you that secretly loves it. Being stuck, is safe, it’s familiar, it gives you a story that it’s not your fault.
And it’s not your fault.
But you don’t have to stay there.
I know it’s scary, letting go of what you know to embrace what you want.
But that’s where the growth is.
I get it, I’ve been there.
I hated it, and I was secretly addicted to it.
But do you know what was the turning point?
having someone help me see what I couldn’t see for myself.
That’s when things began to shift.
And that’s what I do now.
Because I now know what it feels like to be caught in the darkness and I know the way out.

The clothes you wore as a child, don’t fit you any more.
You’ve outgrown them.
Same with your beliefs, how are you have protected yourself through your life from getting hurt.
You are older now.
And you can choose to let go of those protections, because they don’t serve any more.
They used to, but now they’re suffocating you.
I know, because they suffocated me too.
On the outside, I said I was fine. On the inside, I was drowning, lost, felt I was failing.
It wasn’t true, but I thought it was.
You are not broken, my love .
What you are is ready, ready for freedom.
