Expression of Interest to join The Bluebelles for 2026

Are you interested in solo jazz dancing?

Would you like to join a fun, friendly and supportive group of dancers?

We practice, learn, grow and develop together at weekly sessions on Thursday evenings, 7.15-9.15pm in Brunswick (running in terms, with a couple of breaks through the year.)

We focus on female African American jazz dancers and musicians of the 1930s and 1940s, taking inspiration from them and this incredible art form.

Email us on [email protected] to let us know a bit about you and why you're interested in joining The Bluebelles. Please include a short video of you dancing, in which we can see your full body moving. You can dance to any swing/jazz song you like. 

What moves should I do in my video? Please include 1920s Charleston and 1940s Charleston, some triple steps, and two other simple moves that you like. You can do these in any order. Please dance for a minimum of 8 sets of 8 counts and a maximum of 16 sets of 8 counts. For those who want help, please reach out on email and we will send you a video you can learn and copy. 

Submissions of Expressions of Interest open Monday 1 December 2025, and close Monday 5 January 2026.

All applicants will be advised by Monday 12 January whether they will be invited to join The Bluebelles. 

Troupe rehearsals commence Thursday 29 January 2026.

PERFORMERS! Set a reminder - tix for Swing Patrol’s Spring Swing Show 2025 go on sale at 10am this Friday 8 August. Tickets will be released in two waves. Performers tickets will be sold first (from 8 August), with additional places released as social dancer/spectator tickets (from 22 August). We want to ensure all performers (student groups and troupes) get the chance to strut their stuff, so book early to secure your spot at this Night of Nights.
