Sunbury Basketball Association Home of the Jets

Link Tree: https://linktr.ee/sunbury_jets Two new courts, including a Showcourt with 350 seat capacity, were opened in January 2013.

The Sunbury Basketball Association (“SBA”) was formed in the 1974 to cater for a need for a structured basketball organisation. In the early days, competitions were held at the Army facility in Diggers Rest before moving to Clarke Oval Reserve Stadium followed by a move to Boardman Stadium in the late 1980’s when there were only 2 courts which has subsequently grown to the current 4 courts. Over t

he past 40 years, the SBA has established itself as a community-based sporting organisation where families can participate at all age and skill levels. In addition to the SBA’s focus on providing everyone the opportunity to participate, we have a strong history of representative basketball. This is where our best players come together under the Sunbury Jets banner to compete in both junior and senior state-wide competitions. Our junior teams play in VJBL and Regional North West competitions across metropolitan Melbourne, and our history is dotted with teams that have won or contended for state championships. Our senior teams compete in BigV, which sees them pit their skills against the best metropolitan and country teams in Victoria. Our senior men and women programs have been successful over the last 15 years, with multiple playoff appearances. The senior men tasted the ultimate success in 1999, 2008 and 2009; the senior women were runner up in 1998 and 2009; and, the youth league men were runner up in 2009. As part of the SBA’s emphasis on development pathways, it entered youth league men in 2007 and youth league women in 2011. Taking Boardman Stadium to a total of 6 courts. Combined with our commitment to developing our people and culture, the SBA is confident of sustaining growth in participation, and improving the recreational experience of our participants.

A reminder this begins this Monday 15th June -

A message from council -

Dear MRSP Stadium Users,

As part of the ongoing Stage 2 construction works at the Stadium site, a section of the car park will be temporarily closed to allow essential works to take place.

The contractor will be undertaking trenching works to install new conduits, which will require temporary restrictions to a portion of the car park from Monday 15 June 2026 to Friday 19 June 2026.

The affected area will be clearly signed for safety, and the car park is expected to reopen for normal use over the weekend.

Pedestrian access to the Stadium will be maintained throughout the works, with at least one designated access point remaining open at all times to ensure continued entry to the facility.

It is a suggestion that any participant or visitor with mobility issues will need to enter via Barringo road pedestrian spine as the pathway from existing car park will not be accessible.

We encourage all users to allow a little extra time when arriving at the venue during this period and to follow any onsite signage and directions.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while these important works are completed.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR REFREREE OF THE MONTH!

Blake has worked really hard on further developing his refereeing skills in the last couple of months. He attended the u/12 Junior Country Championships where he performed well.

Since that time, he has stepped up to senior domestic basketball and is starting to develop his leadership skills required to mentor our young apprentices.

Keep up the good work. 💙
