Annie has always considered herself to not be “good at deadlifts”, since working together she has added over 30kgs to her deadlift and now owns an Australian Record in her “worst lift”.

There’s a story behind this pull as well, deads weren’t performing the best in training and honestly they rarely perform perfectly in her preps so I knew she would have something big there on the day. Annie was really reluctant to attempt this record, but she put her trust in me and in her ability executed like an absolute champion.

Annie you’re a legend and I’m incredibly proud of you. 👏🏼 🏆

Everyone obsesses over the lockout.

But here’s what 10+ years of coaching national and international level lifters has taught me:

If your deadlift stalls at the knee or above, the problem started 6 inches off the floor.

The floor-to-knee phase is where the lift is won or lost. It’s where you build the positions, tension, and bar path that make the lockout automatic.

Most lifters can’t lock out because:
→ They break from the floor with hips shooting up
→ The bar drifts forward before it even passes the shins
→ They’re trying to muscle a lift their setup already lost

You don’t need a stronger lockout. You need a better start.

Train the half everyone ignores, and the half everyone obsesses over takes care of itself.

Moments

Not just the lifts.
Not the medals, records or awards.
Not the numbers on the board or the podium finish.

The small ones, the ones that mean something only to you and I. The ones you’ve worked tirelessly for, amongst the challenges, pains, doubts and fears.

The build up. The moments before.
The butterflies, the anxiety.
The determination, the will to prevail.
The heart racing as your name gets called.
The moment, YOUR moment.

The look after the big lift.
The relief and moment of disbelief when it finally clicks.
The quiet “we did it” .
The trust built over months that shows up in a single second.

This is why I do it.

Because behind every performance is a hundred unseen moments like these.

Proud of every single one of you, and it’s a privilege to be in your corner as always 🙏

0kg ➡️ 150kg. 12 months. Same bad ass b****. Completely different athlete.

When Cass first came to me she hadn’t trained consistently in years, was carrying some niggles and was always in and out of physio, and had never really touched heavy load.

Now she’s pulling 150kg like it owes her money. 🔒

This is what happens when someone actually commits to the process — not just showing up, but trusting it on the hard days too. This was such an arbitrary number for her, a dream one would say, but you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, and you’ll never succeed if you never start.

Cass, you’re an absolute weapon. So proud of this one.
