Coming back to teaching has been nerve wracking for me. I was worried how I would be judged as a Pilates teacher, three kids and lots of kilos later.

But actually, the past four weeks have been a bit of a dream. My confidence is growing each week. I'm putting so much time and energy into planning my lessons and I've had so much wonderful feedback after each class, like this email I woke up to this morning...

"I felt great after class! You are the best teacher Gemma!!"

I feel so privileged being able to share Slings Myofascial Training with others. It is my calling, truly my purpose in life. I had to go through debilitating injury but it put me on the path to exactly where I was needed to be.

Slings is not just a physically transformative body-mind practice. It is mood elevating, resilience building, adaptability increasing, authenticity building, an all around life enhancing practice!

INTERNATIONAL REPAIR DAY is celebrated in October, a day to promote the value and importance of repairing things. It’s also a day to evaluate things in your home that you can repair instead of throw away or replace.

There are many benefits to repairing something rather than replacing it. You are doing your part to alleviate the global landfill crisis, and you can also save money by repairing instead of replacing. In some instances, it is less expensive to repair an item than replace it.

Here are a few items that you could consider repairing instead of replacing:
Shoes and clothing
Outdoor gear, such as tents and sleeping bags
Furniture
Appliances
Toys
Jewellery and watches
Luggage and purses
iPhones and laptops

Did you know that the Repair Cafe Doubleview operates on the 2nd Saturday of every month? This volunteer-run service to the community has electricians, dressmakers, carpenters, knife sharpening and other handy people available to work on your broken and damaged items. After 12 years of mothering small children, I've reached the point where I'm ready to re-emerge as a Pilates & Slings teacher. It's been challenging trying to juggle it all. We all do the juggle in different ways don't we? I'm delighted to be stepping back into an active teaching role after a break over the past few years. My body is loving my daily class preparation and even after attending Martina's classes week in, week out over the past years, the daily prep is doing wonders for me.

I'm so lucky to be teaching the clients who are booked into our Tuesday night class. One of them was my very first client when our studio doors opened in 2010. She now comes with her daughter who is a physiotherapy student (who used to be just a little girl when I was first teaching her mumma - how did that happen?). Others have been coming to our classes for more than 10 years! All of our clients, new and old, are just the most beautiful people. Martina and I know how incredibly fortunate we are to be surrounded by all of these genuine and lovely people. We appreciate you guys.
