🐎 Bowen Carnival Wrap-Up 🖤 🧡
What a weekend for our Townsville Polocrosse Club family! We couldn’t be prouder of every player who represented the club.
Our 5 Subbies (4 Sub-Junior and 1 Sub-Senior) showed incredible improvement with every game. We’ve been reliably informed their combined goal tally was well over 10 goals (as a chukka!) for the weekend, and there was definitely plenty of cantering happening too! The future of our club is looking very bright.
Our A Grade team was unlucky with the results, but we couldn’t be prouder of our three juniors who stepped up to play alongside some of the best senior players. A special shout-out to Jorja, Vi and Charlie for their determination, grit and courage in overcoming those first A Grade nerves. You all proved you belonged there.
With our remaining players spread across Capella, Bauhinia and Nebo in B Grade, Townsville was well represented wherever we went.
* Jen was carving it up, scoring goals left, right and centre.
* Harry earned the title of Mr Versatile, showing outstanding sportsmanship after his horse went out. At just 11 years old, he jumped on a series of unfamiliar ponies and competed in B Grade without any prior practice on them. An incredible effort and a testament to his attitude and horsemanship.
* And a massive congratulations to our superstars Ruby and Lily Shaw, who were part of the winning B Grade team! Your determination all weekend was outstanding. A huge thank you to Nebo Polocrosse Club for taking the girls under your wing and making them feel so welcome.
A special mention also has to go to our sideline support crew - and a few players, who were very competitive in the Friday night bar competition! 🍻 They played (up) so well they reportedly still felt the effects on Sunday… so much so that we may (or may not if you don’t believe the rumours) have loaded up and left without a horse. 😳😂
Thankfully the oversight was quickly realised, the horse was very well looked after, safely collected, and is now home living his absolute best life. Maybe it’s a good thing our club motto isn’t “No one left behind!” 🤣
Weekends like this remind us what our club is all about—supporting each other, backing our juniors, celebrating every achievement and having a whole lot of fun along the way.
