Hailing from Streaky Bay, Brooke Montgomerie is no stranger to endurance, resilience, and community spirit.

As a qualified personal trainer and passionate wellness advocate, Brooke has competed in some of Australia’s toughest trail events — including taking out 1st Female at Run Larapinta and leading a cycling team from Streaky Bay to Darwin, raising more than $260,000 for charity.

Most of us don’t fall off track because it’s too hard - we fall off because of the stories we tell ourselves.

What about this; you change your story. You start acting in a way that matches the life you want to live.

ADD THESE TO YOUR LIST 😋

It isn’t about eating less, it’s about eating foods from nature. Less from a box & more from nature.

I use to make these for the kids when they were little. And I use to make these for a snack for myself after long runs or when I just feel like something sweet.
I’ve been going back through my recipes as I get back into the swing of things 💪🏽

1 1/2 c rolled oats
1 c chopped walnuts
1 c chopped almonds
1/4 c diced apricot, chopped
1/4 c cranberries
1/4 c Gogi berries
1 tbsp sunflower seeds
1 tbsp h**p seeds
3/4 c honey/natural maple
4 tblsp natural peanut butter
1 teasp cinnamon

Line a pan with baking paper.
Toast the oats, nuts & seeds
Combine all the dry ingredients together in a bowl.
In a small saucepan heat the honey until just bubbling.
Add the peanut butter to the melted honey, then mix until smooth.
Stir the hit mixture through the dry mixture, until thoroughly combined.
Pack the mixture down in pan, pressing tightly.
Place another piece of baking paper over the mixture & place in the fridge until completely cooled.
Slice into long thin bars, or 12 bigger sized bars.

ABOUT ME: It’s been a while. Many have followed along for ever, but lots of newbies.
Also, I love what I do and while it really is just a hobby I would love to do it more but why would people trust and believe I know my s**t and understand how passionate I am if I never really promote it.

And I don’t have time to create the latest style of content that catches everyone’s eye, the thought of that exhausts me, so you’re getting what is now an old school post:

My name is Brooke.
I have always loved being fit and healthy but really turned it up a notch at the age of 30 after my sister died. It became my escape from reality, my reason to get up, a way to feel pain that took away the pain in my heart.

What I discovered is running and strength training are powerful hobbies. The self confidence & self belief grew, and I realised I was so much more capable than I allowed myself to be.

After years of road running races (10k, half marathons, marathon), I discovered trail running.
My first ever time running on trails was the day of the event. A 4 day running event out from Alice Springs where I won my first ever race. First female, 4th overall.

With my Dad, we created the Cycling for Simone event. A 26 day bike ride from Streaky Bay to Darwin where I was team leader. 26 days marked the years of my sisters life from where she was born to where to passed away. We raised $260k for a charity in her honour.

Never did I imagine I’d ever win Senior Citizen of the Year. My idol my Gran won it a few years before, and I still do not think I was worthy of that award comparing myself to her. But how grateful I was that someone thought I deserved that. It wasn’t why I did what I did.

I’ve trained a few times for the ultimate dream - 100km trail run. Injuries stopped me the first year, that virus stopped me the next year. With all the training and success, no one sees the pain & tears that go into training for these things. I cried my little heart out many times throughout training, injuries and failures. Because I wanted it so bad. 2026 is my year 🙏🏽

I went on to run my first ever 60km trail event and shocked myself by getting 3rd on the podium. Something I always feel proud of is that I trained for these events in Streaky Bay (dead flat) and racing against people who training in the Adelaide hills everyday.

Over the last few years I have done a few trail running events and shockingly made the podium both times. While people see the highlights, no one sees what it actually takes to step forward. Through each experience has come many lessons, many injuries, many setbacks, many tears. I think that's why I love what I do, because I know what it takes and how it feels when you don't quit, push through the pain and failures and keep going to be rewarded.

I ran fitness groups for years in Streaky Bay and online health & wellbeing 6 week programs.
Played my first game of footy at the age of 40 and went on to win a premiership.

I now coach my daughter's U15 netball team.
I am passionate about working with the youth, to build their confidence and self belief through fitness because I was that kid that never believed in myself, quit because I felt not good enough & thought l'd never achieve anything.

Our favourite night of the week. And it is now becoming a run/swim club 🏊🏽‍♀️. Might have to add the bike next.

Such a good time with these kids teaching them to love running, and find their confidence and self belief that they can achieve things they didn’t think they could.
I’m struggling to keep up with them. 🫶🏼

Today I am celebrating all forms of movement.

Physical fitness has helped me so much over the years & it’s so good to feel it & enjoy it.
There is not one gym I believe is better than the other, all yoga & Pilates studios are amazing, all groups that meet to move from walking, swimming, running or surfing, if it’s creating movement and you get excited to get up in the morning to do it, than it’s the best one for you.

Some of the best coaches and trainers are the ones we connect to, the ones that we feel comfortable with. It’s about the environment more often than the actual trainer at time. It’s about the purpose, the reason, and the people we do it with.
Some of my most passionately driven times as a coach was when I was learning, excited to try new things & be completely imperfect as a coach doing it.

Today, I’m celebrating my excitement to anyone moving their body, to all the trainers, gyms, clubs, studios or groups that do what they do to empower others to move their body. I have tears in my eyes seeing how many people get out and about early in the morning to move. I never became a trainer to make it about me or about money, all I wanted was for everyone to feel what I felt when I moved. For their mind, body & soul.

Never would I ever think I am better than any other trainer as we are all different and how boring would life be if we were all the same, nor would I ever make anyone feel bad about going to someone else or do something different to what I offer or love.
Breaks my heart when people lose focus on why we do what we do and bash others in the industry.

As I say to my clients, do what you love & what gets you excited to show up. And don’t focus on being perfect, let’s all be messy and laugh at ourselves along the way.

I SUPPORT EVERYONE IN MOVING THEIR BODY & EVERYONE IN THE INDUSTRY CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR EVERYONE.

I’ve always said I need 12 days in my week because I love all forms of exercise and just can’t fit in what I’d like. Never stop learning, growing & following your heart. And be kind 🫶🏼💕
