🦈 COMMUNITY SHARKS RESULTS 🦈

What a massive five days of football for your Sharks and Sharkettes!

With a mix of regular fixtures and rescheduled matches finally wrapped up last night, our Community Competition teams were kept busy across grounds all over the region.

There were plenty of wins to celebrate, goals galore, spirited performances and countless smiles as our players represented the red and blue with pride. More importantly, every team showed incredible sportsmanship, teamwork and determination from the first whistle to the last.

A huge thank you to our coaches, managers, volunteers, referees, parents and supporters who helped make such a busy stretch of football possible. Your dedication keeps our club thriving week after week.

Take a look through this week’s results and celebrate another fantastic effort from our Community Sharks! πŸ’™β€οΈ

🦈 MATCHDAY | RESERVE GRADE 🦈

After a difficult afternoon a couple of weekends ago, when our clash with the Crabs was abandoned following a horrific injury, our Reserve Grade boys are back to finish the job tonight.

Football always takes a back seat in moments like those, and we continue to send our best wishes to the injured player for a full and speedy recovery. ❀️

Now it's time to get back out there as the Sharks head to Jesmond looking to pick up three important points.

πŸ¦ˆπŸŽ’ WHO NEEDS A BOOT BAG? πŸ˜‚

Your Sharks Over 30s turned up to Shark Park last night carrying just about everything except a soccer bag… handbags, shopping bags, eskies, laundry baskets – you name it! 🀣

Whether it was superstition or simply a great excuse for a laugh, it clearly did the trick as the girls celebrated Pride Week in style with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Seaham Bowthorne FC. 🌈⚽

Three points, plenty of laughs and a whole lot of team spirit – that’s what community football is all about.

Well done, girls! You never fail to entertain on and off the pitch. πŸ’™β€οΈ

SHARKS COMMUNITY GOAL OF THE WEEK
🦈❀️ THIS IS WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A SHARK ❀️🦈

At Stockton Sharks, our club is built on several pillars and we talk a lot about football being more than wins, losses and ladders.

On the weekend, our Under 13-2 Sharks showed exactly what that means.

Playing against our great friends over at Mayfield United Junior Soccer Football Club , one of their players, Coby, who has Down syndrome, was given a moment he'll never forget.

Our Sharks coordinated amongst themselves on the field, for Coby to score goal of the century. Coby was unplayable and no one could touch him. Our Sharks chased, defended and attempted to tackle, but he was too fast and too good, running the length to score a goal that was impossible for the Sharks keeper to save!

The goal brought smiles, cheers and, by all reports, plenty of tears from those watching. Only this photo was snapped, unfortunately no video, as from what we are told, the parents were in awe and all too busy wiping away tears as they watched it unfold.

A proud Sharks coach, Jai Manns, informed the club of this Saturday night and we didn't know this moment would be shared beyond the field. Today we received a heartfelt email from Mayfield & Newcastle Football thanking our players and recognising the culture they witnessed.

To our Under 13-2 Sharks, your coaches and your families – we couldn't be prouder.

You showed that football has the power to bring people together, create lifelong memories and remind us all why community sport is so important.

Goals are celebrated every weekend, but some mean so much more than the result on the scoreboard.

Well done to Coby on his special moment, and well done to every Shark who helped make it happen.

Mr Rolston has told us how proud he is of you Coby and he hopes that you celebrated hard and let those Sharks know who you are! Socceroos need another goal scorer!

This is respect.
This is inclusion.
This is community.
This is what it means to be a Shark.

πŸ”΄πŸ”΅ Proud of our Sharks. Proud of our football community. πŸ”΄πŸ”΅

🦈 NEXT UP | ZFL MATCHDAY 14 🦈

The Sharks are on the road this Sunday as we head to Fishburn Field for another massive day of Zone Football League action against the Westlakes Wildcats.

Confidence is building around the squad after a huge fortnight that saw First Grade claim its first win of the season and go toe-to-toe with competition leaders Newcastle Olympic. Now the challenge is to keep that momentum rolling.

With all three grades in action, there's plenty to play for as the Sharks look to finish the first half of the season on a high.

🦈 GAGE ROADS ZFL TEAM OF THE WEEK Γ— 2 🦈

Presented by Gage Roads Brew Co. 🍻

With a busy week of catch-up football, the Sharks took to the park twice – hosting Newcastle Olympic and Kahibah FC on Saturday after rescheduled under the lights against Cardiff in a crucial midweek clash that led to our first win of the season for first and ressies!

All these matches meant plenty of standout performances, so once again we're celebrating with two Team of the Week line-ups.

From goal-saving heroics and rock-solid defending to midfield workhorses and clinical finishing, Sharks across all three grades stood up when it mattered most and helped deliver one of the club's strongest weeks of the season.

⭐ TEAM OF THE WEEK CAPTAIN Γ— 2 – MICHAEL HOWELL ⭐

There was no debate this week.

Howell picks up the captaincy for both Team of the Week sides after producing two outstanding performances in the middle of the park.

Leading from the front, he inspired the Sharks to their first First Grade victory of the season before backing it up days later with another commanding display as the boys went toe-to-toe with competition leaders Newcastle Olympic, almost earning a hard-fought share of the points.

His leadership, work rate and quality on the ball set the standard for those around him and epitomised what it means to wear the Sharks jersey.

Congratulations to Michael and to all of this week's Team of the Week selections for another outstanding week representing the club. πŸ”΄πŸ”΅

UNDERMANNED & UNDERWHELMING

A tough day at Shark Park once again, but Your Sharks showed promise agains the competition powerhouse Newcastle Olympic & Kahibah.

Conference league boys struggled with only 5 regulars available after a two day turnaround. The boys and a few fill in fossils battled and while the scoreline was a blowout, it probably wasn't a great indication of the match. With plenty of chances coming the Sharks way, they ran out of gas in the second half and got punished.

Reserves boys did not get out of the sheds with a short turn around also and were punished early and down 4-0 in the blink of an eye. Saving face in the second half, scoring a couple and putting it back to the Olympic boys. A great free kic from Amir Khavari and a sneaky goal line tuck in from Gilbert Afful.

Firsts was a huge result even if the scoreline doesn't agree. Matching the undefeated Olympic boys for most of the match, everytime they took the lead we found a way to get it back with goals to Kean Thomas fromthe spot and Rebas Khalaf on half time. Olympic shoed their classs and kept Your Sharks under pressure and forced two penalties to put the Sharks out of reach.

Thanks to everyone who came along and supported us and the Olympic and Kahibah boys for some great battles as always.
