Stockton Surf life Saving Club is the second oldest surf life saving club in Newcastle city and of the Hunter SLS Branch, forming five days after Newcastle SLSC on 15 January 1908. Stockton SLSC is situated at the southern end of the Stockton Bight, which stretches from the northern side of the Hunter River at Newcastle to Birubi Point, a distance of 23 miles. However life saving activities were i

n full swing in Stockton in the early 1860's. The "Stockton Rocket Brigade" were a group of men devoted to the rescue of seafarers who became shipwrecked trying to enter Newcastle Harbour. Historical records show that the men who crewed the Rocket Brigade rescue boats were the same men that later formed the Stockton SLSC.

❀️Aussies 2026 Boaties Wrap UpπŸ’™

The conditions were big with some age groups postponed. However as always, the surf boat racing delivered plenty of carnage and spectacular viewing. Our boaties did Stockton proud once again.

πŸ›ΆUnder 23 boys β€œSlugos” battled through tough conditions and strong competition to reach Round 4.

πŸ›ΆReserve Men β€œSparetyres” progressed through to the elimination rounds, no doubt with plenty of stories to tell.

πŸ›ΆUnder 19 girls β€œSirens” showed great determination, working their way through each race to reach the semi-finals, narrowly missing out on a finals berth by just one position.

Rossie and his crews have delivered great results all season. As we all know, Rossie travels a long way to put his crews through their paces and he will no doubt be looking forward to a well-earned rest and a quiet beer!!

A fantastic effort by all our boaties.

PS I heard they had fun at Mad Monday, they definitely looked like they were going to😊
