One of my favourite viewpoints near Albany is Jimmy Newells Harbour πŸ’™

This view point is a short walk from the carpark.
From here I've previously watched frollicking Humpback Whales but on this recent occasion we had 3 dolphins in the water below us.
(They're probably in the photo if you look closely! 🀣)

Swipe across to see the second surprise!
On the walk back to the car we found many Bunny OrchidsπŸ‡, perfect for Easter 🀣 and my first orchids for 2026 πŸ˜πŸ’š

It's a shame that was the last weekend of 3 so I can't suggest 'Put it on your list and thank me later' πŸ‘

This weekend gone, Friday Saturday and Sunday night were the last 3 nights of 9 πŸ’šπŸ§‘

What an incredible experience! Every night and every minute changed as the clouds shaped the behaviour of the lights πŸ§‘πŸ’š

Lighting the Sound was the creation of artist Kari Kola πŸ’šπŸ§‘

It was, apparently, the largest light installation on Earth πŸ§‘πŸ’š

Swipe across to see a few of my favourite photos. Look for the bow of the brig Amity πŸ’šπŸ§‘

Every night is different and the appearance changes over minutes and hours as the clouds block, reveal and reflect the lights 🧑 πŸ’š

If you stop, be present and just watch, there is a surprising amount of 'movement' in a static display πŸ’šπŸ§‘

It's wonderfully aurora-like 🧑 πŸ’š

They claim that Lightning the Sound is the largest light installation on Earth.
Spread across the sound, it is impressive πŸ’šπŸ§‘

Spread over 3 weekends, tonight is the final night of 9 πŸ’šπŸ§‘

Mountain-top reptiles 😲

There is a family of South-western Crevice Skinks (Egernia napoleonis) living amongst the rocks at the top of Mt Toolbrunup.

An interesting thing about them is like their larger relatives the King's Skink Egernia kingii, they live in family groups and are able to distinguish between family members and those that are not.

This species is endemic to Western Australia 🧑

How many can you spot in the photo?
Look closely πŸ˜‰
