What wonderful conditions Horsham had prepared for us on the 2nd round of the
William Skene Memorial Trophy last Saturday.
4 teams of 6 shooters battled it out for the prestigious event with many perfect scores being achieved all around 😊
But unfortunately there can only be one winner
Results are :

1st place - Birchip with 416.44
Equal 2nd - Horsham with 411.37
Equal 2nd - Stawell with 411.37
4th place - Natimuk with 409.33

After the completion of both rounds well done to Birchip and Horsham for making the district final that will be in Stawell in November.
Well done Lew Horwood on getting a perfect score with 105.11 off scratch, good luck in Queensland , also John Findlay and Jurek Paz both getting perfect scores at 300 👍

Next Saturday we have Pennant round 4 at Horsham shooting 300 and 400 yards starting at 12 midday , look forward to seeing you all there ☺️

The sun was shining on the range at Stawell last Saturday to allow us to enjoy the 3rd round of
Pennant shooting at 500 and 700 yards. There was a bit of tricky wind about which showed more in our 700 scores, except for Ted who lead the way with a perfect 50.4 🏆.
Overall results are -

Natimuk - 300.25
Stawell - 300.21
Horsham - 296.19
Warracknabeal - 289.14

Round 4 of Pennant will be held in Horsham
on the 8th of August at 12 midday shooting
300 and 400 yards.

This Saturday we have round 2 of the
Skene Shield being held in Horsham starting at
10 am shooting 300 , 500 , and 600 yards x7.

Unfortunately one of our dearest shooters is having some health problems at the moment , everyone here at Stawell wish Alan a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing you back on the range soon 🥰

Hello happy shooters , hope everyone has been keeping warm in these cold foggy conditions.
This Month we held 2 monthly trophies with August being a busy shooting month. On the 11th of July we held our July monthly trophy shooting 600 and 700 yards , 5 of us braved the conditions and the results were -

1st place - Lew Horwood with 100.11
2nd place - Ted Holden with 100.9
3rd place - George Holden with 98.4

We also had the privilege of the FTR state team
come and have a practice and play with us , thanks Marty , Paul and others , good luck 🏆.

On the 18th of July we held out August Monthly Trophy with 800 and 1000 yards on the agenda the thick fog only allowed 300 yards visibility, so we went to 500 yards 😆 for the challenge.

1st place - Lew Horwood with 100.12
2nd place - Ted Holden with 100.12
3rd place - Jurek Paz with 100.6
George Holden - Is still looking for the target 😢

Hopefully this Saturday brings clear wonderful conditions in our 3rd round of Pennant to be held at Stawell starting at 12 , shooting 500 and

On the 20th of June Stawell held round 1 of the
Captain Gray & Reg Binding Trophy. We had 4 Target Rifle shooters and 5 F standard shooters contest for the honours.
7 shots at 300 , 500 and 600 yards

Target Rifle winners were:

1st - George Holden with 105.10
2nd - Ted Holden with 104.6
3rd - Lew Horwood with 101.9

F Standard winners were:

1st - Steve Read with 105.8
2nd - Jacinta McMaster with 105.7
3rd - Jurek Paz with 101.4

Yesterday we headed off to Warracknabeal for the 2nd round of Pennant, with lovely sunny conditions we had some fun shooting at 800 and 900 yards. Our Target shooters did exceptionally well with Lew getting a 98.8 and in F class both John Findlay and Steve Read both getting an impressive 116.7 and 116.5 off scratch, great shooting fellas☺️
1st place - Natimuk
2nd place - Stawell
3rd place - Horsham
4th place - Warracknabeal

Round 3 of Pennant is on the 25th of July at Stawell shooting 500 and 700 yards starting at midday. Next Saturday we have the Skene Shield round 1 at Stawell starting at 10am shooting 300, 500 and 600 yards x7 . Look forward to seeing you all there 🙂

Last weekend Stawell hosted its annual prize meeting. The weather was a concern coming into the event but we managed to still get an amazing 44 shooters rock up and support all that we love doing . With patches of showers on and off on the Saturday we were lucky to get through all the shooters without any dramas and Sunday was wonderful once the fog cleared and we were able to see the targets again 🫣
Thank you to everyone that helped make it all come together and run smoothly and thank you to all the shooters who came to support our wonderful club. Hope to see you all next time 🙂.

Happy Easter to all the wonderful shooting community out there , hope everyone has had a great last couple of months sharpening up their skills and ready to start teams events 😊. Lew has been working hard on fixing the sloop at the 500 and it has come up a treat , thanks Lew.
We have been lucky enough to pick up a few new shooters thanks to Jurek’s hard work to come have a play with us and they are doing extremely well especially Kerry-Ann , keep up the good work 😊.

Last weekend we held the Aubrey Marathon
Shooting 300, 500, 600, 700, 800 and 900 yards. With almost perfect conditions 7 shooters contested the trophy with it ending up very close.

1st place - Jacinta McMaster with 210.11

2nd place - Stephen Read with 209.11

3rd place - George Holden with 208.13

In the last month Stawell hasn’t had many comps to contend with but we did have a shoot with Ararat which was a fun day . The final of the Skene Shield was held in Stawell with Kyneton winning the honour and Adam leading the way with an impressive top shooter award , well done.

This Saturday we have our November monthly trophy shooting 700 and 900 yards starting at 9am , at 12.30 we have a group from Ararat RSL coming over for a play with us , look forward to seeing everyone there 🙂.

The weather was kind with the rain holding off , but the tricky winds made for experience to prevail .
