#714. Saddles built in 34 years. That’s an average of 21 a year. I probably only made 5-6 a year for the first couple of years as I was still a ringer. Then there was 15 years where Lee and I ran the Equine Breeding Centre where I was pretty busy with the horses for 6 months a year and only made about 15 saddles a year. But in the middle there somewhere I was making over 40 a year!
I’m still loving it, still getting better and still learning everyday.
I’m about to have a forced couple of months (2-3) off work as I need a shoulder reconstruction. Actually need both done but one at a time. I plan to work on my drawing and other non physical jobs in that time. Look out next year! I plan to step up my carving to another level.

My latest customer has asked for water lilies on her saddle so after much drawing, 3 practise pieces and plenty of help from , I put it on the saddle.

Big day tree building yesterday. I’ve recently finished building a new tree workshop. I’ve got a dedicated sanding booth, and air conditioned the workshop. It’s way nicer to work in particularly on days like yesterday at 39° and very humid.
Back to the saddle shop now, to get these made.
