Announcing a new program for SWSAS for 2026/27

Calling all aspiring and developing umpires! The 2026/27 South West Sydney Academy of Sport (SWSAS) Softball Umpire Program is officially open for nominations!

For the first time, SWSAS is offering a dedicated Softball Umpire Program, delivered in partnership with Softball NSW.

This new program provides a fantastic opportunity for passionate and up-and-coming umpires across South West Sydney to develop their skills, build confidence and progress through the officiating pathway.

Umpires will train in a high-performance environment, connect with other developing officials and receive support to help them progress towards the next level of their officiating journey.

Whether you're new to umpiring or looking to take your skills to the next level, this is an opportunity to be part of the inaugural SWSAS Softball Umpire Program! 🙌

💙🥎 CONGRATULATIONS DARRELL SHEPHARD OAM! 🥎💙

Softball NSW Umpires proudly congratulates Darrell Shephard OAM on his reappointment to the Softball Australia National Umpire Staff – Technical Portfolio.

With more than four decades of umpiring experience, Darrell has officiated at an incredible 43 National Championships, received nine Tournament Chief Umpire appointments and served as a highly respected examiner and assessor.

Darrell is one of the brightest and sharpest minds in softball with exceptional technical knowledge, leadership and dedication continue to make an invaluable contribution to umpire education, assessment and development across Australia.
