~ John O'Donohue

Take your first step towards growth and healing.

My integrative practice is client-centred, drawing on value- and strength-based approaches. As a certified trauma practitioner, my approach is to empower you to move from “what is going wrong” to “what can be”. I believe, as you are here, that you are ready to attend to the vital things in your life which bring you aliveness. I hold postgraduate degrees in psychotherapy, education and law, and hav

e worked in different professional industries. I work with people from diverse gender, ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds in areas of
• personal growth and development
• communication and conflict
• stress and anxiety
• interpersonal relationships
• education and schooling
• mid-life questioning
• existential or spiritual issues
• grief and loss. Together in a therapeutic or coaching space, our session is a safe space for awareness and to lean towards positive action. Take your first step toward change, now. I am here to support, facilitate and guide.

Quiet can be built into ordinary life: no phone for the first 15 minutes of the morning, a walk without a podcast, sitting in the car for one minute before going inside, not replying immediately to every message.
The point is not to withdraw from life. It is to stop being pulled in every direction.

❓Where could you place one small realistic pause in your day?

Sometimes it is not about more rest but less input. Less scrolling. Less explaining. Less reacting. Less being available to everyone, all the time.
Modern life makes it easy to confuse connection with constant access, and responsibility with never switching off.

Heartbreak disrupts attachment, identity, and meaning. Poetry may help the mind give shape to what ordinary language cannot hold.

This poem speaks to the kind of tiredness that comes from doing too much, or from being surrounded by too much noise - opinions, demands, decisions, expectations.

Not everyone has access to a literal wood or retreat.
But most of us can notice our attention, and perhaps step away for a while.

What is still burning quietly in your heart?
A hope. A grief. A longing. A love.

Some feelings creep up on us unannounced.
A memory. A longing. A loneliness.
A love we still carry.

Sometimes, reading - by what we are drawn to, a sentence that stays with us - gives shape to what has been gathering there, to let it be seen.

Perhaps this too is a kind of care - to sit beneath the night sky of our own inner life, and notice what is still shining.

This poem gathers memory, love, loneliness, longing, and poetry into the image of stars settling in the heart.

I love the line - “because the fire of my heart hasn't burned out yet”.
Even with all we carry and what remains unresolved, something in us continues.

The Inner Chapter [link in profile] is a quiet space to sit with what gathers in the heart - through poems, prompts, books, and reflection.

When do you feel most separated from yourself?

When you are trying to be good? Trying to be useful? Trying to keep the peace? Trying not to disappoint anyone?

Sometimes, the self we neglect is hidden because we have learned to look elsewhere.

There is a part of us that keeps going:
- as we are busy performing competence.
- as we are speaking, explaining, managing, pleasing.
- as we forget to listen.

In reflective reading, a line can become a doorway back to that self.
This is what we do in The Inner Chapter [link in profile].
