*Not affiliated with the A league team of the same name The club name of Melbourne City has existed for 30 years. The club was established with the assistance of the C.A.V. (Centro Argentino de Victoria). An Argentine community organisation based in Melbourne. In 1991, we began playing in the Victorian State League Division 1. By 1996 we were playi
ng in Victorian State League Division 3. In 1997 we gained promotion to the Victorian State League Division 2 and 1998 once again were promoted to Victorian State League Division 1. We also finished 2nd and were promoted in 2005 to the Victorian State Provisional League 1. Currently we play in the Men’s State League 4 West and at present sit 2nd on the ladder, striving for promotion. Watch this space…
Within our clubs 30-year history, we’ve called home to 5 separate sporting ground/facilities. We were originally located at Schintler Reserve in Footscray, Victoria (the ground no longer exists, it is now a container depot). Through the years, the club has also played at Keilor Park Recreation Reserve, H C Kim Reserve, Altona and Polish Sports & Recreation Complex in Albion. Our current home ground is Edwards Reserve in South Kingsville. Once again we are exploring a change of grounds/facilities to improve and grow the club to becoming a powerhouse in the western region and greater Melbourne, Victoria. The club name Melbourne City Football Club has been incorporated via Consumer Affairs Victoria since 2005. The clubs current logo emblem was created when we altered the club name from Melbourne City Soccer Club to Melbourne City Football Club in early 2005. Even though the clubs beginnings and ties are due to the Argentine community, which will always be thankful & respected, we are now a community-based club that welcomes and opens its doors to all. This can be validated by our diversity in being a multi cultural club that currently has players from 11 different nationality backgrounds representing our teams, all of who now call Australia home.
