The Winter Olympics magic has ended and I’m not coping 😭❄️
(Please check back in 5-7 business days… the Paralympics will have started and I’ll be emotionally stable again 😅)

Sitting here watching the Closing Ceremony, reliving the past few weeks — and feeling pieces of a past life as an athlete — all the joy, and emotions rushing back in.

Calling a gold medal run for alongside was pure privilege. Pure joy. 🥇

Sport can stop a nation in its tracks.
It unites us. It lifts us. It reminds us what’s possible. 💚💛

Thank you &
Till next time.

Still hard rewatching my Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics run after all these years… this time with my daughter 🤍

I was sitting 11th after my first qualifier — right on the edge of cracking the top 10 in the world. I knew I was close. So I pushed.
And on my second qualifier run- I ate s**t. Hard.

Instead of the top 10 result I’d dreamed about, I ended up with the #9 crash in Euro sport Olympic crash highlights. (Whip lash and breaking 5 ribs does look quite spectacular in slow motion) Not exactly the top 10 I was manifesting.

That moment taught me more than most podiums did. (And I’d had many podiums in the lead up but unfortunately that gets lost in the Olympic hype sometimes)

All week I’ve been riding the highs and lows of these athletes from the commentary box, and I feel it in my bones. I’ve been there. The pressure. The razor-thin margins. The external pressure and noise and the self-imposed expectation.
The greatest pressure we feel is often the pressure we place on ourselves.

As the Olympic motto reminds us: “Citius, Altius, Fortius – Communiter. ”Faster. Higher. Stronger. Together.

Going all in means risking it all, including the fall.

And one day, when she’s old enough to understand — I hope she sees and I can remind her that courage isn’t always about the result/outcome.

If, like me, you’re still riding the high from last night’s Snowboardcross GOLD with 🥇🇦🇺… you’re not alone.

But don’t get too comfortable — because tomorrow we’re back for SnowboardCross TEAMS 🔥

This format hits different. It’s not just about individual speed — it’s strategy, trust, and teamwork. One rider sets it up, the next has to finish it.

Same course. New dynamic. Real medal chance. Let’s get behind our riders!

HAPPY OLYMPIC DAY
11 years ago I was competing at the WINTER OLYMPICS it’s quite surreal (and makes me feel old)
The most overwhelming, exhilarating and life changing experience that was the Olympics that even after 11 years, still gives me tingles thinking about what it was like standing in that start gate at the top of the race course (s**tting myself don’t be fooled by the smile)
It’s such a great honor and a privilege to be an Olympian and be able to represent your country doing a sport you love SO much and share your experience. A sport that taught me so much and and an injury that essentially shaped this last 11 years of my life in health and wellness.
I’m so grateful for it and to have had the opportunity to stay connected to the sport through the incredible friendships in Aus and around the world and working alongside the and team to commentate the last two Olympics.
Being an Australian snowboarder in the 90’s and early 2000’s was kind of like being on the Jamaican bob sled team, But I was a young twenty something with a lot of passion, grit and drive. A friendly reminder to myself and others that anything is possible.

I chat to so many of my friends and clients in the hospitality industry about balance. Always ensuring everyone around you is enjoying their experience, over expending your energy and getting to yourself last.

I can relate to the feeling of working in the service industry and feeling depleted at the end of your workday. The last thing I feel like doing is socializing and going back out again sometimes after I get home and put my feet up . However this is actually a really important part of our own mental + social health. Socializing (amongst wonderful company and friends) not only prevents feelings of loneliness, it increases our sense of happiness, belonging, wellbeing and perspective on the world. We’re social creatures and need to give ourselves permission to enjoy our off time too. So I’m sharing 3 simple moves you can do at the end of your work day to restore and reset your physical and mental energy (take a beat) and revive your mind + body for a night out feeling more motivated and present.

I’m grateful to be working with .au that places CARE at the top of their list of priorities. It’s a good reminder for us all to do the same.

1. Hip stretch - Hip attachments are directly linked to our stress response or “fight or flight” Lay in this position for 5-10 breaths increasing the stretch by pulling the knee toward your opposite shoulder.

2. Foam rolling - Gives you the therapeutic ability to achieve self massage and rid the body of toxins and congestion. I turn increasing blood flow and circulation.

3. Hamstring stretch — Lay in this position and combine the breath to ease stress and tension in the lumbar spine and in turn the nervous system.

4. After spending a few mins in each pose take a cold shower to increase energy and boost endorphins.

Enjoy xx

I’m someone’s who’s had to learn to really value sleep! As a former athlete on the road traveling to competitions it was imperative to manage jet lag and sleep but also in terms of recovery (mentally and physically) it was important to prioritize sleep. These days it’s more about the preparation for a good night’s sleep (so I don’t take all my stress of my business and my day to bed with me) and that starts at the beginning of the day for me.
‘Win the morning, win the day’ is something I live by and this starts by exercising before my work day starts. If I don’t get it done early there is the danger that work or life will get in the way. I always try to get even a quick walk in first thing before the gym or work (even if it’s just to go get a tea or coffee) As an athlete I was taught to expose myself to daylight first thing in the morning to help regulate my circadian rhythm (which runs your sleep/wake cycle) And I’m (trying!) to ensure I’m off my devices and not exposing myself to too much blue light late at night - these tiny light hacks have made a huge difference to my quality of sleep.

CLIP! CONNECT! CREATE! CARE!

I’m proud to work with a company like .au that emphasizes CARE as a key part of their ethos. The hospitality industry has been hit hard and you guys are back in business and working harder than ever I believe! The fundamental thing about ALL of you is that you spend most of your time at work taking care of other people – customers, clients, colleagues even each other!

You just don’t spend enough time on YOU! Self Care doesn’t have to be complicated or onerous. It can be simple things and moments in your day. It helps turn the focus back on YOU, no matter how briefly. The reality is you need to fill your own cup up first!

I’ve created a super simple stretch routine that will help you guys shake off your day and focus internally. It will calm and relax {and de-stress} both body and mind! I recommend this series of stretches as a pre-bedtime ritual (especially after a long day on your feet or at your desk!)

No fancy equipment needed (you can replace foam roller for a rolled up towel or pillow!)
– suitable for ALL ages abs fitness levels.

1. Thoracic extension: lay in this pose for 10 breaths minimum until you feel the back relax.

2. Childs pose : Do this following the extension to recalibrate the spine and focus on deep diaphragmatic breaths for 1 min.

3. Breath work: Lay on your back on a hard surface place your hands on your heart and take 10-15 breaths with emphasis on the inhale through the nose and slow exhale through the mouth. Continue till you feel your heart rate slow down.

Let me know what you think in the comments ⬇️
