A very small weather window meant a back to back evening/morning session was in order!
Snapper season has started early, most likely due to the recent swell and rain...some cracker reds about in good numbers!
A short surf session yielded some school mulloway, I dare say there's some better ghosts about with the mullet run happening too.
The morning Tuna run turned into a sharkathon, 3 from 5 isn't bad when fishing Tuna tackle. 🦈
First on the beach was a nice blacktip which was harvested to feed 5 families.(We've been keeping a few this season, between 20 - 40kg are fairly manageable and best to eat.
We hooked, beached and released our first 2 Sandy's/ Angel Sharks this year. (Giant White-spotted Guitarfish).
Back to back bites meant all hands on deck even in the heavy rain! 🌧
These fish measured 165cm/35kg and 201cm/65kg! The bigger one fooled us coming straight into the Beach early, 1 Hour and 20min on the rod and it was finally subdued...they are a powerful fish that should be on everyone's bucket list, just once 😄 🤣
Plenty more rough weather ahead keeping the brakes on the Tuna unfortunately. Usually June is the best month for weather and fish, let's hope that is the case this year 🤞
