BWF Meritorious Service Award - David Turner

David Turner has been awarded the prestigious BWF Meritorious Service Award at the SATHIO GROUP Australian Badminton Open in Sydney, recognising a lifelong dedication to badminton.

Over several decades, David has served our sport as a player, technical official, mentor, volunteer and administrator, including officiating at the London 2012 Olympic Games and continuing to support badminton both locally and overseas through his leadership roles as a Badminton Tasmania board member and BWF Umpire Assessor.

Congratulations on this honour David and thank you for the huge contribution you have made to badminton both here in Australia as well as worldwide.

Badminton Australia is proud to announce that the Badminton World Federation (BWF) has awarded the 2027 BWF World Senior Championships to Australia, with the event set to be hosted in Geelong, Victoria, from 28 November through to 5 December 2027.

Women’s doubles Round of 32 saw two Australian pairs move through to the Round of 16, with Chelsea Griselda and Nozomi Shimizu defeating Jesslyn Carrisia and Faye Huo in a straight-sets win, while Jazmine Lam and Yee-Yuan Lim overcame Sai Tanvi Mushini and Ava Wong to secure their place in the next round.
