Warren's Korean Karate - DanjunDo

Warren's Korean Karate - DanjunDo This page is about promoting my Korean Karate School. Allan Warren FAQ
Is Danjundo an accredited school.? There is no such thing. Is Taekwondo different to Karate?

Allan Warren -founder of Warren's Korean Karate - Danjundo started with jidokwan Taekwondo in Launceston in 1971. Over the years he practiced taekwondo and Hapkido and has now founded a Korean style that combines all of Taekwondo and Hapkido but also takes from other martial arts to deliver a universal self defence style that suits all ages. All prefers to be called sensei in its form of meaning

as 'teacher' He follows the traditional teaching of Korean Karate in the Jidokwan style. Formerly a member of Taekwondo Australia and the World Taekwondo Federation he does not offer sport coaching. Allan Warren has taken part in sport fighting as a welterweight and coaching the Tasmanian State team. He has also acted as a referee at Australian National level and agrees that the sport has value in its current form purely as a sport but disagrees with the current way the sport focuses on some techniques over others to the detriment of the original art. There are several independent schools of Taekwondo and others that are members of organisations like Taekwondo Australia, The World Taekwondo Federation or the International Taekwondo Federation. Taekwondo Australia is recognised as the official sports body for Olympic Taekwondo in Australia. However Allan Warren is an qualified and fully registered teacher in both Tasmania and Victoria witha working with vulnerable people registration. This makes him 'accredited' to teach. What does Danjundo mean?

'do' means the way of and Danjun is an area of the abdomen where we gain our deepest breathing and ki. Alan Warren has decided to se this name for his style of Korean Karate. There were 9 approved kwans (schools) of martial arts in Korea during the Japanese occupation. Jidokwan was one of the larger schools and it orginated in Japan. Therefore it is essentially a version of karate. Hence Allan Warren calls it Korean Karate. Other styles/schools like Tangsoodo are also referred to as Korean Karate rather than Taekwondo.

Hi everyone. I have been living in Melbourne now for 2 years and have been focusing on getting set up such as settling into a new home and job.
I have also been looking for a new place to start my new dojang.
I have decided that Williamstown is where I want to be.
At the moment I have explored options and set up a starter website. After I do some advertising I will be able to find out how many students want to come to my school.
Then I will contract to a school that I work for to use their hall.

"Only with breathing, we can induce our "inner" energy. "Breath power" is released with a sudden, sharp, and forceful exhalation. After the strong block technique, a fast but smooth transfer to the Kamae position should follow, maintaining alertness (Zanshin mind state). At the same time when the block is completed exert pressure on the floor in order to establish a ground connection and to join with 'grund Chi'". Shihan Taiji Kase

To the students and parents of the Queech H.S. group I need to inform you that I won't be continuing lessons into term three this year. Over the holidays I was offered a teaching position in Victoria I have accepted the position and because I needed to start immediately I have already moved It is unfortunate that I couldn't tell you in person.
Good luck with your studies and if you are keen to pursue a Taekwondo further then best wishes.

I read recently how a student of the WTSD (World Tang Soo Do) association was writing his 20,000-word thesis. Even though I myself have a Master's degree in education and have written more than one university thesis, I do not advocate teachers of any martial arts having to write one. I believe a good martial arts teacher learns through practice and self-development. When organizations start to require a university-style thesis for their instructors it starts to devalue each individual who is not academically inclined within the organisation. It creates a system of elitism.

End of term grading.
Four of the junior belts have committed to their grading at the end of Term 3 for 2021. They have shown a strong commitment to learning, developed their technique and when their friends are falling away because they don't share the same courage and loyalty, these few have endured.
They have shown the true meaning the values of Bushido that have transferred into modern Korean karate.

Students find it difficult to connect their training to real life. Recently a student came to me telling me that he had been punched in the nose. Clearly he had not been able to react instinctively and either avoid or block. A lot more work to do around reactions and being aware of impending attack. Sometimes students are reluctant to strike because of timidness, there needs to be a distinct line between their timid nature and the need to defend themselves. More work to do.
